agrees to this deal to add depth to our pitching staff, find long-term solution at MI and to cut payroll in effort to gain a few pieces in free agency. In order to achieve those things, we had to give up guaranteed points in the immediate. Washington had the cap space necessary to land the front of rotation arm they were asking about. - Buyout the contract of CI Matt Downs 0.5M (2014) at a 1.5M cost for 2013
- Release OF Brandon Guyer 0.5M (p-n/a)
- Release CI Leslie Anderson 0.5M (p-n/a)
*These represent a 1.5M savings for 2014, for a total 2014 available cap space of 9.5M*
- Extend the contract of C Victor Martinez for 2 yrs @ 9M (2015). No ranking in 2012 and #5 ranking in 2013 for value of 6M. Due to "70% rule," Martinez will be resigned for 8.75M rounded up to 9M. (Old salary of 12.5M)
- Extend the contract of CI Travis Hafner for 1 yr @ 0.5M (2014). #86 in 2012 and #112 in 2013 for 0.5M value.

Please advise if these figures are correct. If so, it should put the Rays right up against the cap for 2014. Thanks fellas

Franchise GM: Completed Transactions / Tampa Bay contract buy-outs

Just wanted to post these up to make certain they are correct before I post my "contract extensions."

Tampa Bay is looking to buy-out the following contract using their 1M of available 2013 cap space:

CI Matt Downs 0.5M (2014)
RP Cesar Ramos 0.5M (2014)
*If I am correct, I can buy-out their 2014 salary using my 2013 remaining cap space (1M) and clearing completely their 2014 salary from my books. Please advise if this is correct or not*
