Franchise GM: Completed Trades / Cubs - Marlins Trade 1-15-17 12:01 am ET
« on: January 07, 2017, 07:19:29 PM »
Cubs Trade:
OF Toles, Andrew, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI Rivera, TJ, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI/MI Kieboom, Carter, $0.5m (P-n/a)
RP Ramos, Edubray, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Smith, Josh, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Martinez, Nick, $2.5m (2017)

Marlins Trade:
SP Colon, Bartolo, $2m (2017)
SP Tillman, Chris, $6.5m (2018)

Cubs accept. Looking for some starting pitching help and paying a high price in youth to get it. I really like Toles/Rivera chances to get full time jobs very soon, but I have my starting lineup set so sacrificing depth for SP needs. I have a whole bunch of question marks in my starting rotation. Colon's a one year rental but I do really like Tillman still and he will likely be extended so there is some long term value here as well I believe. Plus this should help keep :CHC: competitive this year as I push for the repeat.

Note that Kieboom was drafted this year so will be eligible for trade in a week or so. We just wanted to get it posted and in process. Can hold for a few days if needed.

Franchise GM: Completed Trades / Cubs - Rays Trade 1-2-17 3:02 pm ET
« on: January 02, 2017, 03:49:18 PM »
Rays trade:
CI Belt, Brandon, $4m (2018)
OF Toles, Andrew, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Cubs trade:
MI Tulowitzki, Troy, $15m (2017)
*Cubs pay entire $15M in 2017
OF Beltran, Carlos, $3m (2017)
SP Strasburg, Stephen, $4m (2021)
SP Reed-Foley, Sean, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Cubs accept. I don't have the cap space to try and fill CI in FA so looking to get that need taken care of early. Had to pay kind of a high price in good OF and MI's as well as an ace pitcher and my top prospect, not to mention $15M, but Belt is the perfect young compliment to the aging and expiring Cabrera IMO and should be around my team for years. Thanks for the smooth negotiation, Rays to confirm when they can.

Franchise GM: Completed Trades / Cubs - Cardinals Trade 12-10-16 7:44 am ET
« on: December 10, 2016, 03:57:41 AM »
Cubs Trade:
CI Rios, Edwin, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Scivicque, Kade, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI/MI Forsythe, Logan, $16m (2020)

Cardinals:
MI Tulowitzki, Troy, $15m (2017)

Cubs agree. Story was much better than I anticipated, so I have extra MI. Looking for a one year backup MI, between Tulo and Rivera I should be good. And frees up some salary for future years after bringing Wright's $20M on board too. Had to add in a couple extra specs to make the deal work, but I think we both got what we needed. A long term MI and a short term MI. Thanks for the smooth negotiations. Cardinals to confirm when they can.

Franchise GM: Completed Trades / Cubs - White Sox Trade 12-9-16 12:20 pm ET
« on: December 09, 2016, 12:53:38 PM »
Cubs Trade:
SP Thornburg, Tyler, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Pina, Manny, $0.5m (P-n/a)
RP Glover, Koda, $0.5m (P-n/a)

White Sox Trade
CI Wright, David, $20m (2018)
+Pay $18.5M of his 2017 salary only

Cubs accept. Wright is a massive risk having barely played in a few seasons and recouping from surgery, but with salary help this year and lots of caps space next year, Cubs can afford to take the risk. If we can get 60-70% of a healthy Wright and fill in the rest the time at that CI spot this will be worth it I think. Thanks for the smooth negotiations White Sox.

Franchise GM: Completed Transactions / Cubs roster moves if trade passes
« on: November 19, 2016, 06:51:28 PM »
I was waiting to make sure it passed before making some moves, just in case it didn't I didn't want to drop guys and lose them. Please make the following moves contingent on this trade passing:

Demote from MLB to MiLB:
SP Kilome, Franklyn, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Acuna, Ronald, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Drop:
SP Jacome, Justin, $0.5m (P-n/a)

I can post to a separate thread if needed as well. Thanks!

Franchise GM: Completed Transactions / Cubs Extension
« on: November 18, 2016, 02:45:26 PM »
:CHC: would like to extend Strasburg. Lock him up, cross our fingers and hope he can stay healthy one of these years.

Current contract: SP Strasburg, Stephen, $4m (2017)

SP-72 in 2015
SP-43 in 2016 = $6m
New contract = $4m (2017), $6m (2021)

Franchise GM: Completed Trades / Cubs-Twins Trade ** 11-18-16 11:17 am ET
« on: November 17, 2016, 08:21:03 PM »
Cubs trade:
SP Allard, Kolby, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Young, Alex, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Buehler, Walker, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI McBroom, Ryan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Napoli, Mike, $7m (2017)

Twins trade:
SP Cobb, Alex, $6m (2018)
OF Gardner, Brett, $7.5m (2017)

Cubs accept. A pretty high price in young pitching, but Cubs have 3-4 very solid SP locked up for a few years still. If Cobb doesn't return to form, this is going to look pretty silly, but I'm willing to bet that he bounces back a bit this year. Gardner is another gamble depending where he ends up, but one I feel could be worth it. Pairing him with Puig and Beltran for my 3rd OF and/or Util spot will give me flexibility elsewhere in the lineup. Thanks for hte smooth negotiations. Twins to confirm when they can.
