Starting Rosters:
Each team will select 5 keepers for their major league. The rest of the major league roster will be filled out evenly, based on 2010-11 fantasy points. Goalies will be divided first followed by forwards then defensemen until each roster is at the initial 20 players.
Position and salary will not be considered in this process

Does this occur every year, or was this just for the start-up?  So if i'm understanding correctly, the contracts change every year?  If someone could clarify please! Thanks

Ryan

Nope this is only for starting rosters. So rosters stay the same for the rest of the years and contracts don't change.

Ok, thanks Drew.  Also, can someone add me to Fantrax?  I want to do my extensions before they are cut off.

This extension thing does not work. You have a player that has 1 good season and you have to give player an outrageous pay raise or risk losing player in bidding. You can still have raise based on last year of contract but make it reasonable . Something like below and you can chose either a 1 ,2 or 3 year contract for salaries over $2 million , up to 5 years if salary is $5 million or more per season and either a 1 or 2 year contract below $2 million

Re-signing Forwards
4 million -100+ pts
3 million - 90-99 pts
2.5 million - 80-89 pts
1.5 million - 50-79 pts
1 million - 40-49 pts
650k - 26-39 pts
500k - 25 pts or less

Re-signing Defensemen

3 million - 60+  pts
2 million - 50-59 pts
1.5 million - 35-49 pts
1 million - 30-34 pts
750k - 16-29 pts
500k -15 pts or less

Re-signing Goaltenders
3.5 million - 40+ wins
2.5 million - 30-39 wins
1.5 million - 25-29 wins
1 million - 20-24 wins
800k - 15-19 wins
500k - 10-14 wins
300k - 9 wins or less

***These are the amounts you add on to the players previous contract

Do you mean they get a raise of that much based on their 2011-12 and 2010-11 values. I think a raise based system would be a great unique system to go to but I would like to go off positional ranks.

Yes the current extension system is broken, we are working to fix it but can not make a complete fix under current extensions are closed as it would be unfair to GMs who have already signed extensions for this season.

Here is a proposed change:

Average Rank Changes (from past 3 years)
+40 and over ranks - $4.0m raise
+30 to +39 ranks - $3.5m raise
+25 to +29 ranks - $3.0m raise
+20 to +24 ranks - $2.5m raise
+15 to +19 ranks - $2.0m raise
+10 to +14 ranks - $1.5m raise
+5 to +9 ranks - $1.0m raise
-5 to +4 ranks - $0.5m raise
-15 to -6 ranks - no salary change
-25 to -16 ranks - $1.0m pay decrease
-30 to -26 ranks - $1.5m pay decrease
-40 to -31 ranks - $2.0m pay decrease
-50 to -41 ranks - $2.5m pay decrease
-51 and under ranks - $3.0m pay decrease

Here is an example of this process:
Brian Boyle, $0.5m
09-10 rank - 114th
10-11 rank - 10th
11-12 rank - 31st

104 + -21 = 83/2 = 41.5

Boyle would be due for a $4.0m raise and a contract of $4.5m, he could be signed based on "Contract Limits" for 1-4 years at this value

Average Rank Change = increase from year 1 to year 2 plus increase from year 2 to year 3 divided by 2

Anyone have suggestions as this?
It is based only on the contracts we sign in free agency and not their real life contracts which may be more realistic.

This would happen every year, or just their contract year?

Simply extensions so only when they are in need of a new contract.

Next question: Please clarify what the contract requirements are for players called up from the minor league roster.  Once those contracts are defined is the owner responsible for moving those players onto the Fantrax roster from the FA pool?

no ... right now the only way is to check each team roster

but i will do one soon  .

I have to decide if i do one by positions ( C,LW,RW,D,G) or one with all Rebel prospect team or one with all NHL team .

Next question: Please clarify what the contract requirements are for players called up from the minor league roster.

Entry Draft Contracts
The Entry Draft Contracts should emulate the current draft market.  Figures may vary. Draft positions will be taken from their real life draft positions.

Draft Position - Salary
1 and 2 - 2.0M
3 thru 5 - 1.5M
6 thru 10 - 1.0M
11 thru 17 - 0.8M
18 thru 25 - 0.6M
26 thru 30 - 0.4M
30 thru 60 and over - 0.2M

Draftees will be placed onto the MiLR. All drafted players will start in the minors with no contract (N/C) and only have to be signed when the GM feels the need. If they remain in the minors without a contract and exceed 40 games played they have to be signed to their respective draft value or extension (whichever may be higher) or released to free agency.

Two Way Contracts
Two way contracts are eligible for players who have been drafted by their respective teams. Two way contracts means that players signed to these contract can be sent up and down without going through waivers. Their contract is dictated as follows:

0 games of NHL Experience - Can be signed to a (max) 3 year - two way contract or (min) 2 year - two way contract with the value of the contract dictated by draft position

1 - 39 games of NHL Experience - Can be signed only to a 2 year - two way contract with the value of the contract dictated by draft position or extension value (whichever is higher). This number is 1-29 games for goaltenders.

40+ games of NHL Experience - Can be signed only to a 2 year - major league contract with value of the contract dictated by draft position or extension value (whichever is higher). These players will automatically be transferred to major league roster and have to be signed to a contract or released to free agency. They will also be subject to waivers to return to the minor league. This number is 30+ games for goaltenders.

Once those contracts are defined is the owner responsible for moving those players onto the Fantrax roster from the FA pool?

you have to post it on the transaction board here and it will be done in 48 h

I am still trying to learn my way in this league so I apologize if I am asking the obvious but I placed a bid on Ryan Malone, which was invalid because he is on the Red Wings IR.  I placed the bid based upon the list of available players on Fantrax.  Why wouldn't Ryan Malone be listed on the Red Wings roster in the IR slot?

Thanks

No need to apologize ... it's to save some time( i can't check every team lineup every day) ... the thing is that there is no way to make sure a IR player is not use in a game before i put him back on the team to avoid a gm trying to put a IR player on is starting lineup with the player who is suppose to be only a replacement player .

Thanks for explanation.  So, the Blackhawks have two players that were recently IR'd, Malkin and Tarasenko.  I have moved them to the IR slot on the Fantrax roster.  As I understand the rule I do not get any relief until they have been on IR for ten games or four weeks, correct?  Do I have to post on the Transactions Board that I have moved them to IR in order for the clock to start on the injury period? Do I have to post even if I don't care about the injury period.

Thanks

All contract extensions begin at the conclusion of their current contract and will be calculated against cap starting on July 1st.

So I can use 100% of my current cap space for buy-outs and still be able to afford extensions because the buy-outs will be cleared prior to July 1st?

Back-up goalie must be making less than 2.0m. Teams are only allowed 3 goalies max.

So if we have three goalies, we have to have one goalie making less than $2m or two?

Since the draft is still on, what is the protocol here for bidding on players who are still considered 'prospects' (ie. 1-40 NHL games played)?

If a bid is opened on a player in FA, that should mean he's no longer eligible to be drafted, correct?
Title: Re: Official Q&A Thread

You can only draft guys who were eligible for the 2013 NHL draft, according to what I read in the rules section.

...Or anyone with zero games of NHL playing time I assume to be tacked on to that statement?

So even if a guy as 1 game of NHL experience he's good to go as a FA, but no good for the rookie draft?

Oh. Didn't really read that part, was more looking for the FA eligibility where all I found is that you can't get FA's for players with 0 games.

Not to stir the pot on the draft but a couple players were picked that weren't in this past 2013 entry draft. Good research on the GM's that picked em though!

I'm just looking for answers on the FA since apparently it starts tomorrow (where did that come from?!)

2 years min. is for player you drafted or prospect you got via trade.

this is the rule for free angecy :

Two-way Free Agent Contracts
A free agent skater can be signed to a 2 way contract if the have played 1-39 games or a free agent goalie can be signed to a 2 way contract if they have played 1-29 games.
The cost of their contract will follow regular free agent bidding with their contract being the winning contract plus an additional 500k as a two way contract fee. These players can also still be signed as normal but their contract will be a 1 way contract.
Players with 0 games of NHL experience can not be signed as free agents.

When recalling a player from the minors, is there a certain amount of games he would have had to play for him to be eligible on the NHL Roster?

For example, if Player A had played 8 games in the NHL and he is on my minor league roster, would he have to go through waivers? Would he have to have a contract? Just some clarification.

NOTE :  players must have played at least 3 years if not the extension will be for 1 year at the same price  .
ex: Alexi Emelin,$0.2m (2012-13) extension is Alexi Emelin,$0.2m (2013-14) since he played only 2 years.

Is there a certain amount of games too?

Technically you could but if you need to call him up he would have to go thru waivers first  :agent:
and any team could claim him .  :toth:

Rules posted say

Major League
Maximum Salary: $71,000,000
Minimum Salary: $56,000,000

Is this to date? My roster gives me $70m to work with not $71m. As much curious about the league Minimum.

This is my mistake  when I edited the cap in the rules in April all signs pointed to a $71.1m cap for the 2014-15 season but I got duped and they set the cap ceiling at $69m in June

So when I got the confirmation in June I forgot to re-edit the rule .

I will also change this in the deadlines from April to July so this doesn't happen again .

We can have one 'starter' that gets paid without restriction and up to two 'back-ups' that must be paid less than $2m.

So yes, all three can be paid less than $2m.

Can players with 1-39 games played be drafted?
Title: Re: Official Q&A Thread
Post by: hockeyfreak47 on February 26, 2015, 06:46:34 PM
Can players with 1-39 games played be drafted?

Technically the rule does not say you can't but it does not say you can either  :o

Draft Picks

How Draft Will Be Conducted
  • Prior to the NHL entry draft, teams will be required to provide a proxy pick list if they feel they will be unavailable for the draft.
  • If a team is not present for the draft/times out, and did not provide a proxy pick, they'll be awarded the next highest ranked player that they can afford.
  • Rankings will be in accordance with Central Scouting.
    • Entry Draft will only have players who are eligible for the real life NHL Entry Draft.

This is what I post before every draft :

- Once we start the clock if you do not select within 24 hrs, the highest player available on the NHL draft list (http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftsearch.htm?year=2014&team=&position=&round=) will be awarded to you and you will be on auto-pick for the rest of the draft unless you pm me to confirm you are back.

- If you decide to pick a player not in the 2014 nhl draft you must :
1- make sure the player as 0 game played in the NHL .
2- make sure the player is not on the  Rebel NHL minor roster LIST  (http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=84782.0)
If you pick a  ineligible player you will lose your pick ( no re-pick )

Short answer : no you can't  :judge:[/list]

Theres is a free buyout period in the season deadlines? If there is what are the stipulations. Also this is waht I found in the rule section

Quote
Free buyout period
Each team can buy out one (1) player for free . Free buyout can only be posted during the eight (8) week period following the conclusion of the Rebel NHL Stanley Cup Finals (refer to Deadlines for exact dates).

Note : Only for the 2014-15 season there will be 3 free buyout since the league will size down from a 30 players team league to 27 players team

thanks,

Need confirmation.

For extensions, when a player has dual position, we are taking the higher rank between the dual positions for each of the three year to figure the final ranking

The rule was only changed for those who did not make their extensions yet . I said IF any of you want to edit your extensions it will be allow in case it would be cheaper but no need to do it .

Also players must have played at least 3 years if not the extension will be for 1 year at the same price  .

Just a suggestion here......

maybe in the future we could release FA in waves instead of all at once.

Like 1st week just C, then next week just LW and then RW and D.

I think the 15 max bids on the board is not very fair, kinda like how Goalies were done before. First come first serve. With that rule, right now nobody can nominate anyone for days, but it just opened a few hours ago.

Since goalies can only be added as replacement player they are in the LTIR players list with a ** beside their contract   http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=110923.msg602948#msg602948   .... nothing in the rules but it's all here : http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=240307.msg1075845#msg1075845

ps - it's not in the rules because it's temporary

Cheers,
Rob

All updated now

I have sent this pm 1 week ago :

Hi Boys

lots of things to say and do ... I'll try to make it short ;)

First thing first the Offseaon Goalie pool thread is up in the transactions . This will  be the last year of the goalie pool it was supposed to be temporary until I find a solution ... after 3 years I came to the conclusion that there is no magic way to fix this so starting this season on October 5th 2017 there will be no more $2.0m rule for goalies and goalies will be available to bid on in FA starting October 5th 2017.

Second Free Agency will open September 24th 2017 @ 8h00 am ( no goalie yet only on October 5th 2017 )

Third I will put a Check In thread to see how many GM are still with us and start filling up teams with no GM.

Fourth the playoff format will change from 16 teams to 12 teams with each division winner getting a bye for the 1st round ( may change if a better option is proposed )

Thanks
