Title: Hidden Amongst The Timber
Post by: jackyrob25 on September 20, 2013, 10:20:10 AM
News has hit the Twin Cities that local favorite Kevin Love has been dealt.  There is a lot of frustration around town, as people are questioning where the ownership of the team is heading with this move. They have brought in 2 big men to replace Love, but neither individually offers as much talent as Love provides when he is on the court,

Time will tell what this move will do.  Are the T-wolves on a mission to tank and grab Andrew Wiggins? Ownership denies the allegations, but some in the local media are not so sure.

Shocking turn of events in Minnesota.  After the announcement of the trade of Kevin Love (and once the fans stoped rioting in the streets) many went to the stores to purchase their new Roy Hinnert jerseys to prepare for the upcoming season.  A few dedicated fans even had T-shirts made up displaying both he a Thomas Robinson hugging baby Timberwolves.

However, news has been handed down from the front office that the trade has been vetoed because the commish and his cronies didnt like it.  Well, now that news has not setteld well in the twin cities.  The people of Minnesota are shockingly more prone to rioting and social anarchy than I would guessed before this year.

As for me, just a humble beat reporter for the team.  Well I will be mailing the commish and many high ranking officials in the league photos of cows having sex everyday, because it isnt illegal.  Stay tuned folks, things are getting very interesting in Minny.

oh....and welcome back Kevin

Wonder how Kevin Love feels going back to a team that tried to trade him?  The same goes for Hibbert and T-Rob.  T-Rob has been traded so much already he has to be frustrated with how his NBA career has started.

That was hilarious!

Never considered what Hibbert and T-Rob will feel after this, especially T-Rob after his team-hopping. Look out for him to breakout when he finds a team that will love him and let him stay.

As for Kevin Love, you are still welcome to Miami!  :P

The Cleveland Cavaliers are HEAVILY interested in Kevin Love and is making a full on pursuit for his services. Not hiding this. Offers have already been sent out to Minnesota and are awaiting a response.

Good move for Hibbert.  He is 7'2" 290lbs. He gets close to 3 blocks a game with a chance to double-double.  His scoring should go up since his wrist is healed going into this season.

T-Rob could turn into a J.J. Hickson-type player providing a good source of rebounds.  If his Defense comes along then you got yourself a solid front court.

Rumors are swirling that Minnesota is still looking to add to their front court after the additions of Hibbert and T-Rob.  Could the Wolves be relevant in 2014?

18) MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

(EDITOR’S NOTE: This was written prior to the Kevin Love blockbuster trade)

Record last season: 26-56 (did not make the playoffs)
Projected Ranking: 24
Projected weekly points: 372.21
Average age: 24.07
Key Players: Roy Hibbert, Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic
Key Additions: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Dennis Schroeder, Roy Hibbert
Key Losses: Martell Webster, Kevin Love

As instructed by his agent, Kevin Love has his bags packed and he hopes to burn all his winter clothing. The only certainty in Minnesota seems to be that after an injury plagued season Kevin Love is no longer welcome.

Best Case Scenario: Ricky Rubio has a full, healthy season able to display his dazzling his arsenal of passes and keen court vision. Signing Pekovic at a little over 7 million was a bargain and hopes are high that Dennis Schroeder, after a promising summer league, will see some playing time sooner rather than later. Kentavius Caldwell-Pope is another name to keep an eye on if he is able to leapfrog some of the veteran wings on the Detroit roster.

Worst Case Scenario: The trade of Kevin Love backfires in his face and the people of Minnesota go out and in the street and burn… well maybe they’re just burning stuff because it’s so BooYah!  cold. Entering year number three Ricky Rubio is someone Minnesota needs to be no longer associated with the word potential.

MINNESOTA MAKEOVER!

A group out of Los Angeles, CA met with Minnesota Timberwolves owner, Glen Talyor, this month and have come to an agreement to help assist the team.  The Pacers General Manager, is part of this group and has decided to act as a consultant for the franchise while they await to fill their vacancy at the General Management position.
He says that his owner, Larry Legend, heard about the opportunity from his longtime friend, Kevin McHale, a native of Minnesota.

The General Manager had this to say about the opportunity,"Well, can anyone tell I'm from California? because I have three sweaters on and a big jacket and I'm still shaking...shaking because I'm so happy for this opportunity of course (laughing).  It's 21F out there, ya'll laughing but I'm chattering"  He went on to say,"Larry and McHale talked about, Larry told me about it and I felt it was a good move.  I remember how dangerous this team was when they took on those Lakers in the WCF and I would like to see that passion once more.  Sorry I brought up that moment, but the Lakers got whooped by Detroit anyways so we all cried that summer."

A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING?

Speculations from sources have said that the rumors that the acting consultant GM has tried to shop Rubio may simply be a way of testing his value amongst other GMs as he heads into restricted free agency.  The 24 year old point guard is coming off a knee injury and has only averaged 10.1 points for his 4 year career.  He only averaged 9.5 points last year and is a career 37% field goal shooter. Will the Wolves look to match his market-value this off-season?

7'0" 237 lbs, 25 years old and feeling Duran-Duran-ish "Hungry like the Wolf"! Drafted 33rd overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2010. He suffered knee injury and eventually was waived by the Kings in 2012.  He then went to play in the D-League, traveled to China to play for the Sichuan Blue Whales and won Defensive Player of the Year as well as Finals MVP in 2013.

How did a player draft experts compared to Marcus Camby and Tyson Chandler fall out of favor in the pros?  Now, he is back and he is ready to run with the Wolfpack!
He will start at Center alongside fellow 7'0" Tyler Zeller; creating a twin towers in the twin cities. :MIN-NBA:

THE ARRIVAL OF NEMANJA BJELICA?

They are also close to a deal with Euroleague MVP Nemanja Bjelica, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told AP. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract has not been signed.

Bjelica was selected in 2010 and has blossomed into one of the top players overseas. He averaged 11.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in Turkey last season and will give the Wolves a versatile, 6-foot-10 shooter off the bench who can play both forward spots. He's also 27 years old, which brings some much-needed maturity and experience to a young core.

Bjelica is under contract with his Turkish team until July 1.

Flip Saunders, Wolves president of basketball operations, hinted Friday that Bjelica could wear a Wolves uniform this fall.

“I do believe that if he was a player who was in the [2015] draft, he would have been a top-10 pick,” Saunders said. “And so we’ll see what happens. But I’m optimistic. From what I hear from people is he does want to come over.”

Bjelica plays with the Serbian, Bodgan Bogdanovic.   He is not the brother of the Croatian Wolves G/F, Bojan Bogdanoivc.

Yeah, Bogdan is the better Bogdanovic, hopefully you'll get to know him on your side of the pond one day!
FYI current Fenerbahce roster also includes Jan Vesely and Andrew Goudelock.

Btw, to help you remember the spelling, maybe it's useful to understand where it comes from: Bjelica = Бјелица comes from Бело = white (bijela in Croatian, biały in Polish etc.) so the j and l aren't really there by accident :)

ESPN.com

It took five years, but theMinnesota Timberwolves' 35th overall selection in the 2010 Draft may finally be coming to America. Euroleague MVP Nemanja Bjelica opted-out of his contract with Turkish team Fenerbahce Ulker at midnight, giving him the opportunity to play in the NBA. The arrival of the stretch-forward could force the Minnesota front office to make a move, according toJerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star Tribune:

"The Turkish team Fenerbahce Ulker overnight announced that Euroleague MVP Nemanja Bjelica has exercised an opt clause in his contract to leave for the NBA, That clears the way for the Wolves to sign him, five years after David Kahn drafted him 35th overall in the 2010 NBA draft. Expect Bjelica to sign a three-year deal worth at least $12 million, possibly more ... That's one more frontcourt player -- Bjelica is a natural "stretch" power forward who has the skills to play small forward, but you'd have to probably hide him defensively at that position

NEMANJA BJELICA

Quote
MINNEAPOLIS -- After a quiet start to free agency, the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the board with some much-needed experience for their bench.

The Timberwolves agreed to terms with Euroleague MVP Nemanja Bjelica, adding their 27-year-old second-round draft pick from 2010 to a promising young roster.

"I'm excited to announce that I intend to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves and fulfill my dream of playing in the [NBAFO]," Bjelica said in a statement issued Monday. "Thank you [Coach] Flip Saunders and the rest of the organization for the confidence you have shown in me. I'm looking forward joining the team and helping it become a contender."

The three-year contract is worth $11.7 million, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press, and cannot be signed until Thursday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
