Title: Pujols heading to Canada
Post by: Fourfingerwoo on March 11, 2013, 12:20:42 PM
Toronto trades Max Fried,Brad Miller,Jake Marisnick, Josh Bell in exchange for Fat Albert and $2.75M per year for the duration of the contract.

I have manage my finances well in this league and now I would like to begin to reap the benefits. I can afford Pujols and would really like to add him to my young core of players.

I approve. I get salary cap space and 4 very good prospects in return.

A much better prospect package than the previous Pujols trade.

^ Does not take into account the $16M eaten on Michael Young's contract and is implicitly hypocritical.

That being said, the deal looks fine to me.  Glad to see Colorado accomplishing their goals.  I certainly would have preferred it if my deal weren't struck down in exchange for a similar deal with a division rival, but c'est la vie.

Still not a fan. If larry and the A's got this last year for Fielder and others.

Prince Fielder 1st/CI $29M 2012, $29M 2013, $29M 2014, $29M 2015, $29M 2016
Ryan Sweeney LF/CF/RF $1.4M 2012, $1.75M 2013
Nick Punto 2nd/3rd/MI/CI $400,000 2012, $400,000 2013
Matt Carson OF (AAA) $400,000 2012, $440,000 2013, 3rd yr 2014, arb 2015, arb 2016, arb 2017
A's 3rd round pick in next years draft
cash $12M 2012

For

Dustin Ackley 2nd/MI $2M 2012, $2M 2013, arb 2014, arb 2015, arb 2016
Kyle Seager 2nd/3rd/MI/CI $400,000 2012, 2nd yr 2013, 3rd yr 2014, arb 2015, arb 2016, arb 2017
Dillon Gee P $440,000 2012, 3rd yr 2013, arb 2014, arb 2015, arb 2016
Chris Parmelee 1st/CI $440,000 2012, 3rd yr 2013, arb 2014, arb 2015, arb 2016

If we vetoed the last one, this is not a big improvement. It is just who we like better as far as prospects.  I do not like the fact that no MLB talent is moving to the Rockies.  I would have to agree this time with Beau. Prospects are a crap shoot. Seems very arbitrary.

I got 2 top 100 prospects and 2 guys in the top 150. I also free up over $25M which can be spent in free agency and allows me to alter this team the way I want after recently taking over. I turned around and immediately traded 2 top 100 prospects for Billy Butler at $8M.

My trade options were very limited and with multiple teams vacant its difficult for a new owner to make deals. I didn't want to take on overpaid guys like a few teams offered and I made a deal that I'm happy with.

I approve.  I was on the fence in the last Pujols deal and refrained from voting.  I think that Colorado gets a lot of strong players in this deal.  It is a big improvement from the last deal.
