Title: Extensions Discussion
Post by: Drew on February 27, 2013, 11:04:36 AM
I put this up so we can discuss extensions and also be like "wow" he was that cheap. One player that comes to mind is Howard for Philly as he was cheaper than his current value, with Detroit winning I thought he would be higher.

I agree that was a really nice sign for Philly.

I did all my extensions last week and they all rose, Getzlaf went up almost 2M in the last week which hurt, Im happy that I don't have any HUGE raises to give though, I will likely just about break even at this point.

Seems like a lot of reasonable re-signs though maybe leaving little for FA!!

Part of the reason I knew I could sell the farm to get Crawford.

Yesterday, Howard's extension was equal to his current contract. But after yesterday's games, 2 other players surpassed his point total, thus giving me a cheaper resign.

Horton was a surprisingly cheap resign for me too. I will take him at 2.3M per season any day of the week.

Wow that is chep for Horty... i diont realize, i guess his injuries helped his cost slide (a lot like Howard too I assume)

This might inflate the price of players in FA as there will be teams looking to add that one prized player, which is actually how it is in real life, so I think it might be a welcomed addition.

:iatp: I always like to keep my core and go after maybe 1-2 players rather than let my players walk and pck up 7-8 guys from FA, seems muchmore real NHL like to me. Like last year I re-signed almost all my guys and needed 1 big dman, thu went after Suter!
