Title: Toronto / Nashville Make Trade
Post by: winter on January 26, 2013, 07:12:29 PM
Thomas Greiss, $0.8m (2013-14)
Kyle Turris, $0.7m (2013-14)
Justin Faulk, $0.8m (2012-13)
TOR Round 1 and 2

For

Pekka Rinne, $8.0m (2015-16)
Alexander Sulzer, $0.4m (2013-14)

Trade speaks for itself. You know what it takes to get a starter like Pekka. I give alot of youth, but this starter is worth it. Don't need to mention, I had no starter. I also made room for cap, so thats not going to be a problem.

I've been shopping Rinne for a little while now and there was strong competition out there as you can all imagine. This offer was simply the best primarily because of the cap space I gain. It's not easy parting with a top tier starter in a league that prizes back-ups and career AHL'ers but I'm looking to a reduced salary cap future and think I'm getting a fair return.

Thanks to Winter, Nelly, and HockeyFreak.  :toast:

And what a price he paid! With as hard as it is to obtain a starter in this league, I think that seems pretty close to fair. 6M is a lot of cap to play with; especially in a point of the season that everyone is scrounging around for that last couple thousand so they can field a full 25 man roster. And I think that is exactly what SlackJack is trying to do here.

21M tied to three men, no matter how talented they are, is very hard to swallow when you are trying to field a full 25 man roster. Although his line up is extremely solid, there are places that SlackJack can upgrade and I expect that this will not be the last time we see the Predator's presenting a trade this week.

So to sum it up - Toronto finally has their starter, and Nashville has plenty of free money to play with along with a lot of young potential.

Wow Guys massive.

With a 6m cap save it makes this deal worth it IMO.
