Title: Draft pushed back a week
Post by: kenny on October 21, 2012, 07:04:00 PM
I haven't heard back from a few GM's yet, so we'll push the draft back one week. We've been making good progress in recruiting new GM's, so I'm counting on it continuing this week. Regardless of the number of GM's we get this week, we'll start next Monday. I'll make the selections without a GM by taking players from the top of the list.

Sounds like a plan. About how many more gms do you think we're gonna need to get filled up?

3 for now, but it may go up to 6 or so, depending on if some people get back to me.

How are we working the FA loses that teams will be having in the draft?  Will they be apart of this draft class or next?

Your reply to the contract extensions mentions this (post #25)

"Picks would be for following years draft. For example, if an organization loses a qualified free agents in the 2011-2012 offseason, then they would get compensation in the 2012-2013 offseason amateur draft."

I am guessing these players would have to make the 85% cut to qualify?
Maybe I am not reading it right?? Would we get the picks this year or next??????

Compensation picks was an idea that was floated out there, but did not make the final cut in the extensions rule. Reply #47 was what was agreed upon.

No biggie, I must have missed the conversation somewhere.  Under contract extensions where I got my quote only goes to #44.

I had been expecting compensation during the season while making trades but dont have a problem if we dont get any.  Was the conversation somewhere else or am I just miss reading it somewhere?

Sorry for the confusion. It was an idea that was floated out there to reward GM's who do well with their farm system. It just didn't make the cut into the final rule.
