Title: Off-Season Calendar (Updated 10/8/12)
Post by: kenny on October 03, 2012, 06:34:42 PM
10/6-10/7: Update rosters through end of 2012 season only, update eligible players list for amateur draft

10/13-10/14: Update spreadsheet with free agents for off-season

10/22 6pm ET: Begin amateur draft

10/31: Deadline to offer contract extensions

12/14: Deadline to non-tender players (non-guaranteed contracts)

1/2- 3/13: Free agency

Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any comments. If you want to help out with free agency or the amateur draft, I'd welcome any help that I can get.

Arbitration offers?  Are they due the same time as extensions?

Arbitration is just the offer of the previous year's MLB salary. That's 12/14.

Is the draft really 22 Oct?
Or should it say 11/22?
cause it's placed under the 10/31 entry.

Thanks for picking that up. I've fixed it. It is indeed 10/22 unless we lose a bunch of GM's in the next few weeks. If there's only a few open teams, I'll make selections for them as long as nobody has an issue with that.

So we have 12 days left.
How's the activity situation at the moment Kenny?
Think most of us will come back?

We have two open teams at the moment. There's a couple of other teams I'm keeping an eye on, but we're in good shape for the most part. Don't really want to be too hasty in replacing people though because we're still having difficulty filling the two openings. I'm pretty much stumped as to where else to recruit. The usual spots aren't getting any bites.

There's a list on the Transactions Forum. There is also a list in the spreadsheet (2013 FA).

Are we doing the same as last year and only bidding on a list of like 20 players at a time?

Same concept. The number is going to depend on how much time we have for free agency. I need to find more GM's before we start.

So, we may be pushing free agency back then?  I have no problem with that, especially if it means getting a few more on board. :bacon:

i don't know yet. Still have more openings than I would be comfortable starting free agency with. Will give everybody a week's notice at least.

Ok thanks Kenny.  I will be on holidays from the 4th -11th of January but should have periodic access to the internet.
