I have to say... the NL had some surprises for me. Early in the season, I wouldn't have thought the Nationals, Reds and Giants would've made it.

The Royals, a little below the radar, got the best record in AFB.

Under the radar...I like it that way. Good hitting and luck at just the right times with good pitching performances.  I have a feeling we are going to need all that luck and then some for the post season!

Good luck to all in the playoffs.

Looks like some real dogfights in the NL....should be fun!

Just curious, can anyone list total points scored this season by the playoff teams?

Today is huge for the marlins.  Almost the entire roster has the day off compared to the nationals who have about everyone playing.  Marlins have a chance if they are still close after today.

It'll be an upset if Nationals pull it off. For those who don't remember, they started the season off 0-5!
Title: Re: AFB Playoffs
Post by: snbts on September 06, 2012, 02:30:33 PM
I dont know about that.  Since the new GM took over they have been crushing everyone they have been playing.  Don't forget they put up over 500 pts 4 times including a 600 pt week.  No one else was able to do that.

Post by: kenny on September 06, 2012, 02:34:17 PM
Sounds like somebody's making excuses already!

They definitely have been good as of late. They made some key free agent pickups.
Title: Re: AFB Playoffs
Post by: snbts on September 06, 2012, 02:39:03 PM
 :P

Not excuses just being realistic.  (I think)  The Marlins still have a good shot, just was not looking forward to playing the Nationals.  They are the one team I did not want to play.  I was hoping the Cubs would not have gone 0-3 down the stretch so they would have taken the wild card away from the Nationals.

I not in agreement with the FA pickups.  Though, they were good, I think the previous GM was the one who did that.  I think the team really started to click when they had the trade with the Giants.  The Nationals really took off then.  The deal helped both clubs but just looking from the outside, I think this was the trade that pushed the Nationals into real contenders.

Hello all.  Sorry for being a bit inactive lately.  I started a new job and it has been insanely hectic!  I've still been keeping my lineup up to date, but I haven't been active on the transaction front.

I will be back to my normal trade-happy self after the season.  Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs.
