as i'm only signed on to commish franchise NHL for this upcoming 2012-13 season, i would like to put in place a process to nominate + confirm the next FNHL commish to ensure a smooth transition and take care of this important piece of league admin up-front.
as a deadline, let's set November 30, 2012 April 28, 2013 as the date to get agreement on and confirm the 2013-14 commish! :judge:
PROCESS
- if you're interested, please post your intent on being scrutinized, used n abused, and putting in lots of hours to organize things. :o
- also, if you have any previous background as a commissioner of a hockey league - pl. state it for everyone's knowledge. :toast:
ok, let's hear from interested ppl OR nominate someone you feel could continue to grow the league ... and remember, as a commish you will need to have time as this is a manually run league due to the salary cap set-up on profsl.
feb21-13: deadline pushed back to apr28-13 from nov30-12 due to NHL Lockout and delay of hky season.
-
i believe (though it's just an opinion), that a person who already commish's 1 profsl league has capacity to commish a 2nd, but no more than 2 on profsl as it's very involved.
that said, drew's a great commish but already has profsl responsibilities + Backyard and is already the default roving FNHL commish in case of an emergency.
-
i'll nominate izaman3 + snugerud as both have shown strong knowledge, great opinions + high activity level since joining. all reasons i recruited them for FNHL. :toast:
also Capn Cally (if he had capacity to devote the time which i understand he's short of this season for :EC: involvement) given his hockey knowledge and willingness to share opinions on rules and ways to improve leagues he participates in. that's why i wanted him to join us in FNHL. :afro:
these are only 3 suggestions + i haven't discussed this with any of them so they may decline outright. we'll see.

I'd be happy to help in any way possible
Never commished a league, but never really tried either.

Thanks but no thanks, this league will require way more time than I am willing to commit and I see about a 2-3 year project to bring everything in line, close the loop holes and fix (what I view) as scoring issues. Not something I am willing to take on at the moment.

 i figured you might say that given what you told me when i sent you a league invite. actually this is a great league with more and more true advanced GMs who want to see the league get better annually, more competitive and see GM stability ... a huge issue from what i could see in achieved posts from 2010 when it seemed like GMs were extremely inactive or came and went regularly after destroying their roster.
fair enough snugerud! fair enough.

I nominate myself. I have always had a vision for the league and it seems now it has strayed from the original intent (of creating a life-like imitation to the NHL). I have the time and know how to make this league killer. I understand that it takes a team to manage a league and through a team anything is possible. I would look forward to the comish job.

Sorry ,my opinion Joe, is that you should not be involved in running the league. From past history, it proves your table is full, no involvement for months.

I completely disagree. Furthermore, if you knew the behind the scenes, and other actions, there were reasons I stepped away for a short time. I had not left my team in bad shape, and had the rules not been changed it would have been a contender as is.
However, opinions are like...well you know.

Furthermore, I was the commissioner of a league recently in which I maintained it. Agents vs GMs, which unfortunately just didn't recruit. This was acknowledged by the group and it was deemed a failed project. It truly needed an entire reboot.

Whoever you guys select I hope you get someone that is willing to stay on for an extended period of time. Seems like in the past there has been a revolving door at the commissioner level
-
Pigs is doing an excellent job so far and I personally think that he should continue to oversee the league. The commish job has been a revolving door and we finally have one that is an excellent communicator and takes a vested interest in the daily operations of our league. Pigs should remain in charge until he decides not to or he majorly screws something up. :P
Chris- you are a good GM and person, but you have shown patterns of abscence in the past. I'm glad you are sticking around.

snugerud, having a different commish annually can be a positive thing as each new person helps the league grow and evolve.
It can also lead to some instability if each successive commishe decided to overhaul rules but I dont foresee that next yr as we r election the next commish early enough that they know what's expected of them and how much change the league can handle in a given yr.

...
Appreciate the feedback... but no more brown nosing n get back to ur GM post. :P
as I mentioned, this is a labor intensive league to run given the setup + # of teams. I will step aside for a new set of commissioners.
However I will recommend that hockeyfreak47 stay on if he has the capacity as I know he really cares about this league and invests the effort to keep things moving along.
Lets continue to hear nominations for suitable candidates.
-
just curious why dont you want to continue commissioning the league pigs?
-
I say keep Pigs as commish. The league hasnt been doing this well since I joined.
-
just curious why dont you want to continue commissioning the league pigs?
2 reasons:
1) these Profsl league are labor intensive and require a lot of time and effort to run, even with a team of :EC: ppl i already commish five other hky leagues and this is #6...
2) i wasn't voted into the position, i volunteered and we accepted into the role by 2 individuals.
my intention was/is to help get things on track for 1 season (since i enjoy playing in FNHL and the old commish team seemed to have moved on in May-July when we were all wondering if things would continue) but then let a new team that the league voted into place continue on.

safe to say this member is no longer a candidate for the commish role in 2013-14 as he's no longer a member of profsl nor FNHL.

So what's happening with this? Is there going to be a new commish next yr? Is this league going to happen in 2013-14?
