divided into 3 yrs becomes an illegal contract. you need to resubmit the contract relative to the value range for given # of yrs.
in order to be a 3yr contract, you need to pay the player a minimum of 1.5m per yr.
please review the contracts pg and resubmit your contract.

per my PM re this contract break-down...
if you divide 2.5m by 3yrs, each yr costs you 0.833333m or rounded up to 0.9m.
0.9 does not work in the contract range for 3yrs (betw 1.5 - 5.4m).
so you've got to divide the 2.5m total by 2 yrs and you get, 1.25m or rounded up to 1.3m per yr. that works for 2yr contract valued at "<= $1.4m, 2 years"
then you can say I still want a 3 yr deal so you bump up the annual contract value to 1.5m per yr and sign him for 3 yrs.
your best options are...
1.5m / 3yrs
OR
1.3m / 2yrs
