Ottawa announces a trade with izaman3's Penguins.
We were approached by Pittsburgh who were looking to put his stamp on the team he just took over. At the same time my Sens are always looking to make adjustments to our roster and possibly position ourselves for another deal.

Each team is moving a Defenseman and a Forward. It couldn't be anymore straight forward.

We also realize Garrison is due a $6.3 Million extension next season which we will be able to fit under our cap.


Dealt to Pittsburgh
Defense Andrei Markov, $1.8m (2013-2014)
Right Wing Brad Boyes, $4.1m (2014-2015)

Coming to Ottawa
Defense Jason Garrison, $0.2m (2011-2012) - Contract Expires 8/4/2012
Center Maxim Lapierre, $1.7m (2013-2014)

The Penguins confirm this deal. I like being about to join a league and immediately make moves.

Garrison had a pricey extension and it made sense to swap good D-men and both teams got more depth in forwards positions they were weak in.

Hopefully all my trade negotiations in this league are this easy, quick, and fair. Good dealing with you dickiedunn!

looks balanced overall.

slight edge to :PIT-NHL: (relative to 2.0m cap space savings) if markov puts in a decent season, especially with that cheap price tag.

fastest trade by a new team to-date! :toast:
