Ottawa Senators announce a trade with the Detroit RedWings.

To DET $7.2 Million
Detroit gains $7.3 Million in space cap room
Left Wing, Andrew Ladd, $7.0m (2014-2015)
Right Wing, Bobby Butler, $0.2m (2013-2014)

To OTT $14.5 Million
LW - Jan Mursak, N/C, (44 Games)
Ales Hemsky, $4.1m (2011-2012) - Contract Expires 8/4/2012
Bruno Gervais, $4.1m (2012-2013) He's a Buy-out
Kimmo Timonen, $6.3m (2012-2013)

Detroit approached us looking to deal. We have cap  space to offer and take on a bad contract or two. This deal hopefully accelerates our team's rebuilding process a little. Our trade partner clears a nice amount of cap to resign some of his players as well.

having looked at both rosters a lot in the past couple of days, looks like :OTT: has enough space to add the extra salary.

if :DET-NHL: wasn't up against the cap ceiling with a bunch of players to resign, this deal would be a clear win for the Sens, but as ottawa is eating a big salary in bruno gervais ... looks fairly balanced.

nice deal for both teams. :thumbsup:
