Clayton Stoner, $0.3m (2012-13)
Luca Caputi, $0.5m (2013-14)

Anaheim Rec's

Really don't like moving Franson, but Gilly needed some D help and I like Foligno so was willing to make the deal. I took Kampfer as Gilly needed cap help, as I have no real use for him.

All-in-all I was comfortable with my D-Men and now I have some great complimentary points on my LW as well.

I don't think I can approve. Franson and Stoner combined did not even equal the amount of points Foligno put up. Kampfer is included for cap purposes but didn't do anything last season. Caputi is 23 and played 35 games, I don't see him making a big fantasy impact ever in the NHL, maybe a 4th liner.
Also for double the points at the same cap hit for Foligno then Franson, just doesn't make sense for a team going forward. Franson also only seen 53 games last year and was a healthy scratch as Toronto doesn't want to give him an opportunity to play.
I don't approve.

All the same. I see Franson as a full season guy next year... After RC took over as coach, Franson was getting time playing along side Gardiner and PP time as well, and we all seen what he can do when he plays. Along with the 600k Gilly was looking to save!

Just my 2 cents!

:iatp: I think the trade is OK.   :ANA: gets the better player but it a good deal for :DAL-NHL: as well.

I also don't think it is a great idea to bring up past trades.

It was to help prove a point that worse trades have gone through, I don't win this deal, but it will help me eventually!!

Its only Cubs and Cho left I believe as Drew & Tony voted. Gilly and I are involved in the deal and Winter isn't in the league anymore. Unless SlackJack took over that spot when he took the Pred's as he already voted to approve.

I would be happy with it if kampfer was out of the equation... the three guys gilly receive have yet to live up to the potential that beaner is getting.

I voted to approve this trade because I felt it was made in good faith. I think that Bean gets the better of the deal but I'm withholding judgement on how uneven it may be.

I have not taken a spot on the Trade Committee and would prefer that my vote not be used as the tie-breaker. If I am asked to weigh-in with further opinion however, I will do so.

Gilly wanted Kampfer dealt in the deal because he wanted the cap savings. I would be fine with no Kampfer in the deal, but that was part of what he wanted to alleviate that 900K in cap space

If that is the only reason he is here, than  :iatp:. Both teams are desperate for cap space, so it makes tons of sense.

Just for my reference and anyone else who wants to use it

Franson D, age 24 63.6 FP
Stoner D, age 27 38 FP
Caputi LW age 23, 0 FP

Foligno LW age 24, 112 FP
Kampfer D age 23, 19 FP - Cheep resign,

I dont see the benefit for Dallas here. Loses by like 30 FP. Only saves .1m of cap, and kampfer would have been a cheep resign or could have been dumped next year, instead he takes on 2 contracts,  one longer then 1 year. Caputi isnt anything special enough to make up for it.

I understand you are trying to rebuild but I think you could have gotten back a bit more.

really surprised this deal is taking so much heat, not to be picky but a lot other deals have been worse imo. not trying to puposly bring up old deals, but its true.

im fine with taking kampfer out as i didnt care for him anyways, he was to enable gilly a 600k saving. its not 100k as caputi is in minors.

also the reasoning for less points is valid but if franson gets his 82 games this yr which he should the spread is likely non existant....

I understand what you are saying, but my problem is the best player in the deal in every way, Foligno, has the most potential too. If Gilly ends up saving 1 - 2m in this deal, then it would be worth while.

This is why i love BY, we can have discussions without fighting :)

So is this trade better for me in everyones eyes if I give Foligno for the 3 guys (Stoner, Franson and Cuputi) thus leaving Kampfer out and staying with me...I eat 100K but I feel like its a nice return for Nicky, but Im open to hear more thoughts, Im learning :)

I'm learning too Gilly and my read is that it would be more fair if Bean was taking on some cap space.

What you could aim for:

Dallas Rec's
Cody Franson, $2.5m (2013-14)
Clayton Stoner, $0.3m (2012-13)
Luca Caputi, $0.5m (2013-14)

Anaheim Rec's
Nick Foligno, $2.5m (2013-14)
Contract Dump 1.8m

The valuation of Stoner and Caputi is next to nothing while consensus seems to be that Foligno is of greater value than Franson, and by a fair margin. One way to offset that inequity would be to have Bean take on more cap....not less. Of course that would require a complete re-working of the trade.

I bet it would pass if you did this:

Cody Franson, $2.5m (2013-14)
Sheldon Souray, $0.9m (2012-13)

Anaheim Rec's
Nick Foligno, $2.5m (2013-14)
Steve Kampfer, $0.9m (2012-13)

Or something like this:

Nick Foligno, $2.5m (2013-14)
Nathan Horton, $4.0m (2012-13)

P.A. Parenteau, $2.8m (2012-13)
Cody Franson, $2.5m (2013-14)
Clayton Stoner, $0.3m (2012-13)

But those are entirely different deals. The main thing is, if you are giving up the best player in the deal you should be getting something in return. Good contracts or cap relief and/or prospects and/or picks.

I approve original trade as both teams are filling their needs, and not one team is being ripped off
