Toronto gets N Backstrom for Z Chara straight up.
-
Freaker is moving and stuff so maybe too busy to validate this trade. I'll give it another 12 hrs before I reopen talks with others on Backstrom.
-
Well I didn't quite make it another 12 hours like I wanted. I've had another offer that I think is better and I need to move quickly here before Free Agency opens.
I'm officially withdrawing this offer.

I'm not sure if you can just cancel a trade. We will let the Commissioner rule on this. Free Agency opens July 15th so it is still months away. :toast:

My understanding is that it's not a trade until both parties have confirmed but maybe I've misjudged. Curious to hear from Drew on this for sure!
-
I confirm. I'm quite busy at the moment and only get on the computer for a few minutes a day sometimes. You can't just back out on deal like that.....
-
Not here to rock the boat but I would like to hear a ruling on this. I don't see it as backing out of a deal if the deal isn't completed but if that's the way it is I will abide by the decision without issue.
-
If I am not free to withdraw my offer:
My suggestion on this would be to specify a time-out period whereby an offer that has been tendered but not signed by both parties is indeed free to be withdrawn.
48 hours perhaps? If that's acceptable then my offer for Chara stands as it is well within that time frame. No matter what, you just can't expect to leave it hanging there indefinitely.
-
I looks like the offer is valid that the offer can be withdrawn, it was done so before hockeyfreak6000 confirmed the deal.
My suggestion is not to do this in the future though instead agree or disagree over PM then post the final deal once both parties have agreed. No time limits or anything.
-
Thanks for the ruling. With apologies to hockeyfreak, the offer was withdrawn as of 8:29pm yesterday. I'll contact him again to see if an alternate deal can be worked.
This makes the Karlsson deal valid and confirmed but I'll get hold of Norry again to reconfirm.

So this trade is officially invalid?

I think the interpretation is that it was a valid offer....that was withdrawn. It's not a trade until confirmed by both parties.

Invalid trade
