Is there some 'dibs' system that I'm unaware of for starting a player's free agency thread?

I was hoping that I could get Yadier Molina but the bidding became too expensive. My plan has been to go after Barajas if Molina got too expensive, so that's what I'm doing. If you hadn't started the thread, I would have.

I've started many free agency threads and have lost out on the majority of them. Isn't that just the way it works?
