Post by: Rob on March 10, 2012, 10:23:30 AM
I totally stole this from Backyard... Hopefully they don't mind!  Please vote, and feel free to vote for multiple members.  I'll tally the results after the playoffs.

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board)

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM)

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers)

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings)

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings)

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen)

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies)

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team)

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board) -- Chicago

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM) - Carolina

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers) - Calgary because he has 50 centers

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings) - Detroit

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings) - Boston

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen) - Chicago, because of Buffy

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies) - Anahiem

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team) - LA - because had they had a steady GM all season they would be in the playoffs.

*** If we can nominate ourselves I have to give RW to Colorado,  (Kovalchuk, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callhan, Matt Read, Bryan Little and Ales Hemsky is a pretty solid RW.

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board) - Boston

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM) - St. Louis, I went with who brought in the best players for their team.  Stamkos, Weber, Spezza, Evander Kane and Lundqvist are tough to beat

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers) - Sharks

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings) - Red Wings everyone on their team is dual position eligible.  It makes me sick

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings) - Anaheim : Seguin, Selanne and Eriksson is solid

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen) - Chicago

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies) - Carolina : Ward and Pavelec get the joy of facing the most shots

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team) - Flyers, they were shafted long and hard all season

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board)
I'm making 2 nominations here:  The first for Carolina for making me laugh all season.  Your power ranks and participation in discussions help keep the league active and interesting.  My second nomination is for Colorado.  I haven't looked it up but I think you made the most roster moves all season with some very nice pickups mid-season.

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM)
Carolina.  I think after the contraction draft you made a lot of us look stupid with the amount of talent you were able to acquire by saving a few dollars in the draft to use in FA.  While a lot of us spent all our money in the draft your approach was more strategic and you got a lot of nice talent on cheap contracts.  Very nice work!

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers)
St Louis.  Spezza & Stamkos and Backes... Oh my!  I know Backes is a winger mostly but he's eligible, so it counts for me.

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings)
Philadelphia.  Tough one here.  Hartnell and Pacioretty had great years.  Also Dupuis is no fantasy-slouch.

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings)
Colorado.  The Kovalchuk/Callahan combo is pretty deadly.   Also Matt Read, Dustin Brown, Bryan Little = Nice depth.  Again, I know Kovalchuk plays on the left side mostly, I'm just going by eligibility since that's what matters to us.

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen)
St Louis.  Weber, Pietrangelo, and Shattenkirk... wow!  You could use some depth but kudos for having these 3 on one team.  Fantasy-wise they're all killer.

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies)
Carolina.  I almost picked Los Angeles for Hiller & Quick, but Carolina has more depth and a brighter future in net.

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team)
Los Angeles.  If they had scored 0.05 points in period 20, he would be in the playoffs.  Also if this team had a little more TLC before Drew took it over they would likely be in the playoffs anyway.

This is looking like the same kind of interest the real NHL awards draws.

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board)
3 way tie!!! Robo as Comish, Gypsie always active and Power Rankings are GOLD, and Snugs as always active and makes a lot of good moves

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM)
Carolina for the fact of his draft and FA strategy... I felt like a tool going into FA with no money and watching him snap up great players for cheap

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers)
SJ and STL for me with a slight edge to STL

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings)
No one runs away with this but I like Philly and LAK with Landeskog and Benn

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings)
Colorado for me as well..... well rounded with star power and great depth

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen)
St Louis has 3 guys in the top 10... hard to argue it

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies)
Hard because a lot of teams have a good 1-2 punch, but I will say a small edge to LA with 2 G's in the top 8

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team)
Los Angeles for sure, if Drew was here all season they would have been in the playoffs and likely a top seed

Credited Kovalchuk for LW - Colorado still close, but I pick
Boston

St. Louis but not by much.

Colorado Avalanche - Possibly 3 HOFer's and Sanford ain't bad.

-The Gordie Howe Award (most active on the board)
Rob

-The Ken Holland Award (most outstanding GM)
Chicago Blackhawks - best record - gocubsgo7

-The Wayne Gretzky Award (team w/ best centers)
Detroit, 4 of centers in the top 20 or St. Louis, 3 in top 10

-The Brendan Shanahan Award (team w/ best left wings)
Like Anaheim's LW with Eriksson, Parise, Fleishmann, Greening

-The Jaromir Jagr Award (team w/ best right wings)
Colorado with  Kovy, Callahan, Brown

-The Bobby Orr Award (team w/ best defensemen)
Chicago or Toronto

-The Dominik Hasek Award (team w/ best goalies)
Myself, LA (2 goalies, 1 at 4th and 8th), or CAR (2 goalies, 1 at 6th and 10th)
Don't know how COL is even getting consideration as they don't have a goalie in the top 20

-The Bad Juju Award (most unluckiest team)
LA much better team than record and if I was here I would have probably made people cry haha.
