:NYR: gets
Marian Hossa, $5.3m (2017-2018)
Patrick Kane, $6.3m (2014-2015)
:CHI-NHL: gets
Brian Boyle, $5.4m (2013-2014)
Mikeal Backlund, $4.7m (2014-2015)
Matt Calvert, $2.7m (2013-2014)
G - Jack Campbell, N/C, (0 Games)
Round 1 - 2012
Its pretty obvious why i do this trade, just look at my name. I give a lot to get them but that is the price you pay for a chance to contend.

Hawks were in shambles when I took over, so I am taking the Baby Steps needed to help rebuild the Franchise. I accept this deal.

Too me I see this
Marian Hossa, $5.3m (2017-2018) <--- having a exceptional season
=
Matt Calvert, $2.7m (2013-2014) <--- Way overpaid prospect
G - Jack Campbell, N/C, (0 Games) <--- a long ways away
Round 1 - 2012 <-- Low first round
Patrick Kane, $6.3m (2014-2015)
>>>>
Brian Boyle, $5.4m (2013-2014)
Mikeal Backlund, $4.7m (2014-2015)
<--- Both way overpaided and especially Boyle
So as I see it, it is 2 studs in Kane and Hossa (which are obviously not the problem in CHI) for 2 plugs, a overpriced prospect. A top tending prospect and a low first rounder.
Why wouldn't you rather have Hossa at 5m then Boyle? Why not Kane at $6.3m rather Backlund and Calvert at $7.4m?
I can't approve. :veto:

Have to agree with Drew here not a good enough return for Hossa and Kane
Sorry Guys

Hossa - age 33, having a good year but that doesnt help chicago, and it doesnt fit his rebuilding plans at all
Campbell - a long ways away because he is only 20. Highly regarded goalie prospect to a team that only has 2 goalies, 1 that plays overseas and isnt coming back, 1 who is a backup to the best goalie in the league right now
Backlund - 22 Plays on the same line with Cam and Iginla, high potential
Boyle - 27, only 20 less fantasy points then Kane. Having a good year
1st round pick - right now projected to be 15 - 20th overall, and this is hockey, not basketball, late 1st round picks turn out to be good players. Hossa was taken 12th overall back in the day, thats only 3 spots ahead of my projected.
Ignoring names
a great player that doesnt fit rebuilding plans and a top young player for
top goalie prospect which is really needed, mid 1st round pick, good young center, 2 great prospects.
-
Also look at Chicagos needs
Depth - only 18 guys on his roster and we start 17 a day
Youth
Draft picks
Goalies - 2 on the roster and 1 of them isnt coming back to the nhl.
What Chicago gets in the trade
Depth - 5 guys for 2
Youth - All guys under 27 with high ceilings
1st round
Highly regarded Goalie prospect in a league where the top 28 FP getters are goalies.
I dont feel this is vetoable IMHO

The team I took over has tons of issues for its lineup, so I went for the quick fix. Yeah, I should have shopped these two around, but I wanted to get the lineup situated, and the higher priced "prospects" helped the cap situation. I'll respect the TC wishes, and me and Cubs can see if there is another way to work a deal that satisfies everyone.
-
I agree with Drew, definitely not enough value for Hossa and Kane. Sorry guys.
