Title: New Rules for 2023-24 Season
Post by: Billy on May 16, 2023, 04:01:07 PM
1. No longer allowed to go over cap in future seasons

2. Tanking will be kept track of more closely. Lineups will be checked weekly and will be retroactively adjusted for any one deemed to blatantly tank. You will be warned and if I have to send mutiple warnings, you will not be allowed back the next season.

3. The season will be moved to end one week earlier and not use the final week of the NBA regular season. Meaning there will now be only 19 regular season weeks prior to playoffs in weeks 20-23.

4. If a player is extended for only 1 season, they will automatically hit FA the next season.

5. As previously agreed with Billy, taking also into account that cash exchanges will not be allowed starting from 2024/25 season, we decided to wipe out for new owners (net negative) cash exchanges that were negotiated by previous team owner. This will not impact teams that were on the other side of the trade (they will keep their positive cash exchange on the book)

Starting after 2023-24 season
1. No longer allowed cash exchanges (any player with a cash exchange already on the books will keep that cash exchange, we just won't allow any new cash exchanges)
2. Increase salary cap by 50% of difference between CCD and real NBA (so if the cap for the 2024-25 NBA season is $20m higher than CCD, we will increase by $10m)
3. Increase extension table to the highest salary being $35m*
4. Change the contract table to require higher salary to get more years ($10m is too low to be able to get 5 years with how expensive NBA contracts are now)

Starting after 2024-25 season
1. Increase cap to match the real NBA
2. Increase extension table to highest salary being $40m

* Please note that any extensions signed during the current season will be already based on the following updated salary table.

Overall Player Rank
1-5 = $35.0m
6-10 = $32m
11-15 = 29m
16-20 = 27m
21-25 = 25m
26-30 = 24m
31-35 = 23m
36-40 = 22m
41-45 = 21m
46-50 = 20m
51-55 = 19m
56-60 = 18m
61-65 = 17m
66-70 = 16m
71-75 = 15m
76-80 = 14m
81-85 = 13m
86-90 = 12m
91-100 = 11m
101-120 = 9m
121-140 = 8m
141-160 = 7m
161-200 = 6m
201-225 = 5m
226-250 = 4m
250 + = 3m.

The estimated salary cap for 2025 is $125mn. Therefore teams must not exceed this 2025 cap when they re-sign a player

Some clarifications on free agency:
- a team can bid on a player even if it has no roster spots available. Anyway the team can sign him only after it opens up a spot (if the team is no more interested in signing him after a winning bid, it is technically a release);
- a team cannot bid on a player if it does not have enough cap space to sign him. Teams with no cap space are allowed to bid only for G-league eligible players (no impact on salary cap) or post bids under $2.1mn of total contract value only if accompanied by a conditional drop of a 'free droppable' player with an annual salary equal or higher than the bidded player. The 'free droppable' player subject to the conditional release must be clearly communicated at the time of the bid and cannot be modified. No bids above $2m are allowed for teams without cap space (except for G-league eligible players);
- bids increased by less than $0.5m (under $10m) or $2m (above $10m) are automatically invalid and have no impact on the clock to calculate the 48 hours;
- bids made by teams that do not have enough cap space must be verified by LM or moderators. If an auction expires with a still active invalid bid related to cap space, the LM or moderators will extend the deadline;
- if an auction expires with the website down, the LM or moderators can decide to extend the deadline (it depends on for how long the site has been down)
