Title: Mariners Open
Post by: Dan Wood on December 22, 2011, 08:58:21 PM
It has been brought to my attention that the Mariners GM, no longer wants the gig...You guys know the process. 72 hours internal, then we take it outside...Please post interest below...also please explain what you would do with the team, and try not to make it the usual, I will build with youth and veterans, blah, blah blah - snore... I would like any prospective GM to have knowledge of the players on the roster

Thank you  - Management

If i become the new Mariners GM I will build this team in free agent market because their is a good group of young specs like pineda,Dominguez and so much more.I think this team is 2 big hitters away plus 2 good SP for making a run at the AL West. Well all you guys know im a very active Gm in my leagues and im very aggrassive in doing trades.Well i hope this time i get a team this time.I was a finalist for the last team but came up short.Well i hope i get in this league with all good active Gms.

The mariners are in a good spot having a ton of cap space avail with some good young players already locked up long term.
Building around Cargo, Pineda, Romero, Mccann there is a lot to like about this lineup.

That being said a ton of work is needed to get SEA from the basement of the AL West to contending for the division. They need SP and some proven bats in the MI and CI positions as well as overall depth in the lineup. These will be addressed down the road after getting a look at who's avail in FA or via trade during the year.

I see this team being able to take the division in 2-3 years. Possibly less with some good FA and roster moves, getting kids like Gose, Franklin, Springer, Martin up in the show also helps.

This league seems like its the most entertaining on this site. I normally will only do pay leagues but with the activity in FGM I see it being a great league to join.
Id like to take the M's and see what I can do with a bit of cap space and some good talent to go with it. I like the challenge of taking this bad team and rebuilding it to contend.
