Minnesota gives:
Delmon Young $5.375M
Boston gives:
Xander Bogaerts (A-ball)
John Lackey ($15.25M; $15.25M; $15.25M)
Brandon Workman (A-ball)
I'm doing this trade because I have extra cap room and I'm looking to acquire some young talent to build up my farm. I really like Bogaerts and I think Workman will be a solid pitcher. I think I can afford to give up Delmon because I don't plan on competing this next year and Delmon isn't signed for very long.
I think this is a good trade for both of our clubs. I get some young talent and Boston gets a good power-hitting OFer and $45.75M worth of cap relief.
Things you might need to know about this league:
-We have a $125M salary cap that Boston is currently over.
-Our league is a H2H points league.
-
Boston said he will respond later tonight.

Toronto gives:
I'd love to get Young, but I think Boston would rather get him heh

I would like to start off by thanking my trade partner here for making this a pretty straight forward transaction. That said;
Boston Red Sox confirm and accept the trade of Lackey, Bogaert, & Workman for Delmon Young & 9.875 million in cap relief in 2012 & 15.25 in 2013 & 2014.
This trade was born of necessity, but as I was able to walk away with a solid ML regular at a position of need it's not a complete salary dump. Bogaert is a up and coming hot commodity, but with Middlebrook & Vitek ahead of him in development I feel it's a good move, Workman looks like he will be a solid Joe Saunders type, serviceable but not spectacular. Lackey could be a wild card as he could rebound after rehabbing from TJ, but father time isn't exactly on his side here. Young should be solid if not dependable, and depending how the whole extensions debate plays out, he could be a extension waiting to happen.

Very true. I was thinking about the extension thing today. If you can find a way to resign him for close to what he's getting paid now, that would be a steal. But who knows what the extension rule is going to look like. Either way, I have a lot of OFers coming up through so Delmon won't be missed.

Workman and Bogy are both good talents but are still raw. I think MN should get more here for taking on that Lackey deal. But, it's fair enough.

This is a solid deal on both sides. Lackey is a heavy liability, but that contract is offset by low MiLB specs. It allows the Red Sox to pursue more in FA and add a valuable OF for at least the 2012 season.

I tried getting Ranaudo packaged somewhere in there as well, but that didn't work out very well. ;)
