Sam, are you looking to outright release these players? Or just to get them off your 40 man roster? If you're releasing (non-tendering contracts) these players from the organization completely, they become free agents and are not subject to the waivers process. They do not have guaranteed contracts.

I was just looking to get them off the 40, but how about we outright drop everyone and move Mastroianni off the 40?

Could we change the wording in the constitution then?

Unconditional Release Waivers
If a player is placed on Unconditional Release Waivers, any other organization may choose to
claim him. If claimed, the new team will inherit the player’s contract in its entirety. If no team
claims him, he will become a free agent and the remainder of the contract will be paid in full by
the waiving organization. Other organizations have 48 hours to make a claim.

These players do have contracts just not guaranteed ones.  I was taking it as having a contract and having to pay what the unguaranteed contract calls for.  We all have a chance to sign them during free agency now.  Well except for Darin Mastroianni.  If he is removing him from his 40 man, the Marlins did put a claim in for him.

What do you want changed? You are getting Mastroianni

This is not about getting a player. It does not say anything about guaranteed contracts or non guaranteed.  I just would like to have the clarification so EVERYONE is on the same page. For us all to play by the same rules we need to understand the rules.  It does not matter if I get a player or not. I could care less about that.

If I understand correctly, he is allowing free drops now.

I will add a section on non-tendering players.

FYI, these "free drops" are not specific to this period. This applies to all future off-seasons for non-guaranteed contracts (rookie contracts, "arbitration" years).

Thank you Kenny, I think that will help and add some clarification to this.
