Title: Rule Change: Extensions
Post by: EastCoastGonzo on February 12, 2022, 03:09:27 PM
Originally only 2 extension were allowed per offseason, because of 2020 we temporarily made it 3. For the 2022 offseason it will revert back to 2. New proposal is that it go down to 1. In a league this size it is harmful to competitive balance for teams to be able to horde players. Reducing the number of extension only marginally penalizes those who draft/sign well, but still allows for them to trade players before they hit FA.

Current rule:

GM's may extend the contracts of players in the final year of team control. Only two extensions may be made per off-season.

I say 2, but they must be of different positions and cannot both be CI or both be MI. Preferably, it's 1 pitcher and 1 bat if a team extends 2 players. Also, maybe decrease by 1 yr one of the eligible signings? Owner may choose tho.
