Giants trade:
SP Cahill, Trevor, $1.5m (2023)

Orioles trade:
CI-MI Gonzalez, Marwin, $8m (2023)
X-Gonzalez, Marwin, Cash Exchange, $8m in 2021

The Giants are rolling the dice here and hoping that Marwin Gonzalez can provide some needed lineup depth on those off days when a player is needed to fill the lineup.  Trevor Cahill is injured and no longer part of the Pirates rotation, and replacing him with Marwin is a risk worth taking.  The 2021 cash exchange allows him to be added without any financial impact for the current season, and, if he doesn?t work out, he can be bought out by season?s end.

Orioles to confirm.

Orioles agree.

I don't like Gonzalez's contract for 2022-23, and this gets rid of it while preserving space to buy out Shogo as well if needed.
