Title: 2 way contracts
Post by: Jesse on October 28, 2011, 05:49:25 PM
We need to do something with 2 way contracts because it is frustrating that I am being told that I am being disrespectful for wanting to call a player up thats on a 2 way and send another player thats on a 2 way down.  I feel we should get rid of them all together and have 3 free call ups and send downs a year as I feel that its disrespectful to say that you can do something and then when you do it you are called disrespectful and receive warnings for unsportsmanlike when all I am doing is following the rules

It is disrespectful because I told you can't do it and you continue to try and do it. It is unfair to others because you are using a loop-hole in the rules to gain an unfair advantage (26 players instead of 25). Everyone else so far has used the 2 way contract to cover IR players, send down if under-performing, or call up if doing very well. Not as you plan to do which is have 2 players on 2 way contracts that you inter-change based on if they play or not.
The 2 way contracts are not there to be loop-holes so you can have more players in the line-up on a given night.

I will not be removing 2 way contracts because I feel they valuable to the league and to protecting our young players.

If anyone else sees a problem with this, I will make a rule edit so that this can not be done. But the rule I feel would be a detriment to the league on a whole.

Make 2-ways the same as waivers. You have to wait 24 hours going down and 48 hours going up???

I really think they were fine as long as it's not abused.... but if it has to change the hour rule is ok.

The only thing about that is I am not going to guarantee that I am going to do it on the hour. And you would not be able to do 2 at once. So say you were sending 1 two-way player down you would have to wait the 24 hours before the other could come up. I currently like the way we have it but just don't abuse it.

Well if you don't want the rule to be abuse then I think my idea will work. People will also have to understand that you can't process all 2ways on time and they could end up having a shorter lineup. I really don't want to see 2ways taken away because they are great for injury replacements.

Another idea is to limit call ups/downs to once a month unless is is an injury replacement.
