Thanks to our assistant GM, we have identified several contracts to restructure. Blues will re-sign these players to new deals.
Forwards
Calle Jarnkrok, $0.6m (2019-2021). LW 143/96. RW 150/97 0.8m (2020-2022) +0.2
* Please move Jarnkrok to RW as he is currently listed at Center.
Oskar Steen, $1.4m (2019-2021). C 379/364 0.7m (2020-2022) -0.7
Nico Hischier, $3.0m (2018-2021-EL). C 72/94 3.3m (2020-2023) +0.3
Lean Bergmann, $1.4m (2019-2021). LW 401/282 C 376/243 0.7m (2020-2022) -0.7
Mikhail Maltsev, $1.4m (2019-2021). LW 441/408 0.7m (2020-2022) -0.7
Joel Teasdale, $1.4m (2019-2021). LW 432/399 0.7m (2020-2022) -0.7
Defence
Mac Hollowell, $1.4m (2019-2021). D 438/401 0.7m (2020-2022) -0.7
Jason Demers, $2.8m (2018-2021). D 185/147 1.3m (2020-2022) -1.5
* We noticed Colorado was able to offer a 3-year term for a higher contract value of $1.5m, if we can do that we will resign Demers for $1.5m (2020-2023).
Nick Holden, $5.2m (2018-2021). D 126/68 5.0m (2020-2023) -0.2
Overall, potential salary cap savings of $4.7m or $4.5m depending on the Demers contract.
We are pleased with these new deals.

Ask for a ruling on the expansion draft and EL contract protection
I think Nico is auto protected under that current deal which affords an additional safe spot for another
He could also cost you a lot more by waiting

Yep, you can always increase the value to get the extra year. Hell, you can go 4 years @ $5.5M AAV if you want to (http://www.profsl.com/smf/Smileys/default/rotfl.gif) Just can't go lower than their value.

AntMan & MCrow are correct! :iatp:
Also, as AntMan eluded to RE Entry Level Contracts being automatically protected during the Seattle Expansion draft next off-season. You will be rolling the dice on the player's ability to maintain or drop in rank to avoid a costly future extension if you sign Nico Hischier next off-season.
Let us know what St.Louis wants to do with Nico's contract, extend now, hold off, need more time?

Please hold off on this extension for Nico Hischier. We will reassess the situation and understand his extension cost can increase significantly however the opportunity to protect him with his Entry Level Contract status during the expansion draft next off season needs to be re-evaluated by our cap specialist. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
