Title: NHL Schedule
Post by: snugerud on October 19, 2011, 10:37:20 AM
Has anyone else noticed what a terrible scheduling job the NHL did this year.  Pens are going to have almost 15 games in before the sharks play their 4th.   I am of course exaggerating a bit but I am surprised that some teams only have 1 game all week when others have 4 and 5.

Bruins have a ton of home games to start the year.  Normally that would be great but I think they need to be on the road to get the cup hangover out of their system.

Not only the amount of games the Pens play but where they are playing.  They go from the west coast to east and then all the way back to the west coast. 15 games in like 30 days.  Hockey isn't a sport you can play every other day like baseball.  Hockey takes effort  :P

Hockey is the toughest sport for the schedule makers to construct a full schedule... they play in arenas usually shared with an NBA team, and that means that the NBA teams get first dibs on certain dates.

Besides that, these same arenas are used for concerts and a whole bunch of other events. Making an NHL schedule is a job I certainly would not want!

That's what computers are for!
