Title: Revised trade Buffalo / Edmonton
Post by: jlapo11 on August 05, 2019, 09:50:03 PM
G Curtis McElhinney, $2.5m (2020-2021) (pay his full salary for 2019-2020)
C Adam Gaudette, $0.5m (P-20/21) (winner of the Hobey Baker Trophee)
C Rasmus Asplund, $m (P-n/a) (picked Round 2-33)
X- 2020 3rd Round Draft Pick, Buffalo, $m this year
VAN 2020 3rd Rd Pick( recently acquired from Vancouver)

for

C Ty Dellandrea, $m (P-n/a)
D Dante Fabbro, $0.5m (P-n/a)

I revisit the 1st trade to add 4 more pieces.  Trading two young players with a lot of potential (Gaudette and Asplund) + future draft picks +  a goalie who had 168.75 FPt last year (should have more with a better team in front of him) to acquire 2 players with a lot of potential. Curtis will be replaced by one of my prospect goalies.

This trade will meet Edmonton needs to have an adequate back-up instead of Dansk and Condon and for my team to improve my defense roster next year and my center line in a couple of years

Edmonton pls confirm

Edmonton accepts

Rasmus and Gaudette are good young prospects, not quite at the same level of dellandrea and Fabbro, but still ahve potential.  I am happy to acquire mcilhinney.  He will get some good backup starts and help my goalie play this season.

Looked at this a few times today.

I'm going to kick things off with a :veto:

Gaudette is in my own back yard and he won't amount to much more than a 3rd line C moving forward. Not even sure he will stick at that spot in the depth charts given how he plays. He's not quite a top-6 but doesn't have the make-up for a bottom-6. He's more likely to be a solid AHL or overseas player. I mean, I hope I'm wrong as a Canucks fan, but I just don't see it in him. He'll get 3rd line minutes this season but same as last year, can't see him doing much of anything, especially fantasy wise.

Asplund to me is a fringe NHL'er. At his size (weight) he'd need to be in the top-6, and I don't see that happening, unless he pulls a 180 and lights up the AHL this year. He had 10 goals last season. Let's just say he'd still be on the draft board in our Supp draft right now, and probably wouldn't get picked at all. Possibly late in the 3rd round but somehow I doubt it.

The 2020 3rd Rounders are a nice effort, but not much value in 3rd Rounders as they're more of a crap-shoot than anything. Especially since Buffalo will be a solid team and I'm hoping I'll be as well.

The value just isn't here. There's more quantity yes, but the quality is very much lacking still.

I approve.

I don't love it for Edmonton, still.  But I disagree with Cally's assessment of Gaudette and Asplund.  Gaudette offsets Dellandrea for me.  The rest is a quantity for quality move and there's enough here for me to get out of the way.

Cally  You changed your mind since May 14,2018 when I acquired Gaudette and where you said  :iatp: Gaudette's a stud.... LOL.  I am sure that if I wanted to trade you Gaudette last year you would probably had jumped on it. You are not always right and it could be the case for this trade.

3rd rounders sometimes reserves suprise. Everybody is looking for draft picks right now in the draft room. 3rd rounders mean something for these Gms.

Dante Fabbro is not the next Bobby Orr and Dellindrea the next Connor McDavid. They will probably be good players but right now they are good only on paper. We are not in the real NHL world. We are in a Fantasy league where decisions are taken to improve our respective team (short or long term)

Edmonton wants a goalie now and myself I want Fabbro for the future. We took a toughtful decision in the best interest of both teams. 2 prospects, 2 draft picks (even if they are 3rd rounders) and a goalie is a good return for these two players.

Just one man’s opinion.

No need to get the panties in a knot.

I see every Canucks game. Last year Adam hadn’t played much. After seeing him over a season, things change.

I think Fabbro's potential is pretty settled but Ty is still young enough where he may run into development issues. Gaudette won't be a world-burner but does have some potential.

None of the pieces that were added are great, but 4 decent pieces make it enough for me to...
