Title: News Flash: 6-1-19 General Musings
Post by: Flash on June 01, 2019, 02:08:38 PM
GMs,

Hopefully all of you are enjoying the season and will continue to be as active as possible.  As always, there comes a time when some general reminders need to be posted.  So without appearing to be a whiner, here are some things I hope all off you can help me with:

1:  When posting a roster move, either as a drop or as a MiLB/MLB move, please list the player’s name AND position.  Listing the position helps locate him on the excel sheet without having to stop and look on the FGM board to see where he is on your ProFSL roster;

2:  When opening a bid on a free agent, please list the position, name, and team affiliation.  Post it like this:  SP Sandy Koufax, LAD.

3:  When posting a bid, please make sure you post the name of the free agent correctly.  Sounds a bit petty, but there have been several cases where a player is listed and then I have to search him out on Fantrax because a name is not spelled correctly;

4:  Please make sure you have enough cap to cover your bids.  Obviously, we all make bids, that if successful, will require us to drop players to have a roster space and/or enough cap.  However, if a bid seems to overextend the amount of available cap, beyond anything which can reasonably be accommodated, then such bids might have to be invalidated for the good of the league, in general, and for a given team, in particular.  Obviously, if this situation arises, I will contact a given GM directly so that if I misread a situation, I can be apprised of the GMs thinking and how it will not be a problem.  Again, as always, each of you can run your teams as you see fit, but sometimes preemptive actions are required to avoid any adverse situations, and if I let a situation deteriorate, without seeking a solution, then I am not doing my job as league moderator.  Hopefully, everyone understands the spirit of this approach.

5:  When posting trades, it is quite helpful to post which players a team is trading away (not receiving).  Again, seems minor, but it helps me process things more easily if you follow this format:

Giants trade:
OF Fowler, Dexter, $10.5m (2019)
X-OF Fowler, Dexter, Cash Exchange, $10.5m in 2019
CI Seager, Kyle, $5.5m (2022)

Mariners trade:
MI Lowrie, Jed, $7m (2020)
X-MI Lowrie, Jed, Cash Exchange, $7m in 2019
OF Davis, Khris, $4m (2021)

This format is clean, easy to follow and there is no confusion or misunderstanding.

Again, your cooperation is greatly appreciated and as always, if an issue arises that requires my attention, please don’t hesitate to send me a PM or initiate a post on the Transactions Board (if it deals with your rosters) or on the main FGM Board (if it is a general question of league wide concern).

I would also like to remind everyone that as a result of the MLB decision to do away with August waivers, FGM will be doing the same, since we do our best to mirror MLB activities.  July 31st will be the absolute deadline for all trades.
