Brent has selected six MLB players from the Houston roster as keepers. He has selected Jose Ramirez, Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin, Cody Bellinger, Christian Yelich, and Anthony Benintendi as his keepers. You can select any player not highlighted in YELLOW off of the Houston Astros roster sheet. Please post selections on this thread. Picks can be MLB or minor league players. By selecting a player, the selecting team will assume the current contract of the selected player. This mini draft will be two rounds.
Houston cannot protect MiLB players initially. After pick 15 of Round 1, Houston can utilize two prospect protects. After round 1 concludes, Houston can utilize two more prospect protects. In round 2 after the 15th pick, the Astros can use their final two protections. This takes the top A+ and distributes them through the league while still giving the Astros the opportunity to keep top 100 players as well; we want everyone to enjoy the experience too so it's only fair that Houston have some top end prospects.
The draft will be conducted on a running clock. The Houston Competitive Balance Draft will kick off at 3pm Saturday the 19th. The 1st round will have a 12hr pick clock while the 2nd round will be an eight hour clock. We will be pausing free agency in the meantime until this draft is finished. In the event an owner goes does not make the pick in the allotted time, ldsjayhawk/indiansnation/kidd5jersey will make the selection for that team. Below is the draft order for the Houston Competitive Balance Draft.

Ok I think I just spotted a glaring oversight in the execution of this draft.
The draft order is based on reverse order of standings as it should be.
However, some owners swapped teams/rosters this offseason.
I'm pretty sure Kevin (leppardkev, former Nationals owner) carried his entire roster over to the Rangers but has the #5 pick from the old Rangers orphan roster??? Thus leaving the orphan Rangers with an unjustified lower pick??? It doesn't bother me a ton but it is unfair and other owners closer to those draft positions might not be too happy about it.
Are there any other swaps we are missing or is there something I'm missing???
I know Cris swapped Rockies to Royals but that's accurately reflected in this draft.
Brian went from Giants to Reds which is not reflected in this draft but I don't know if he carried his roster over as well.
Not sure if there were others...

I adjusted the position for KC. I missed Texas until it was too late. I looked at it when I realized and I believe there is not a huge difference in position on that one. I am not going to go back and adjust. Brian moved, but did not take his players.
I don't know how you guys did it when people moved teams. Going forward if GMs switch teams, they are going to inherit the players of the new team and leave behind their old players. It is too messy to switch like that.

Good enough for me. Personally I don’t mind the Rangers/Nationals discrepancy as the players taken don’t seem a huge difference and it didn’t impact my team but I felt obliged to bring it up.
And I agree that roster swaps should probably not happen. It’s messy and not good for the other teams in the divisions as maybe they planned their window to compete around divisional rivals rosters. It was only done once before that I know of as a prerequisite for someone to be willing to take on commish when nobody else wanted to.
