Title: Houston Rockets & LA Lakers Trade
Post by: WestCoastExpress on January 08, 2019, 04:53:29 PM
:HOU-NBA: Houston Rockets Trade:
SG James Harden, $38.2m (2021)
[HOU pays $18m per year on Harden]

:LAL: LA Lakers Trade:
PG John Wall, $12.3m (2021)
SG Donovan Mitchell, $4m (2020)
PG Jeremy Lin, $0.5m (2021)
PG Shaquille Harrison, $0.5m (2021)

Wow. Big trade. I'm pushing all my chips in the middle to win the league this year.

With Wall lost for the season I wanted to add another big piece. I was hoping I could just trade Wall for someone, but Mitchell had to be included in this one to make the deal a go.
Definitely long-term I lose this one, but this helps me a ton this year for sure.

I pay more on the cap for just one player here, but I have just enough cap space remaining to make that work, and I have some half-decent depth guys on my inactive roster that can be called up as well.

Thanks for the trade talks Marko

I approve this trade!

I think is a short term loss to me because of the Wall injury but, like WestCoast said I also think is a nice long term deal for me. This year I don't feel I have the team to fight to the Lakers Dream Team so for my interest is a very nice deal.

Wow, what a deal! LA keeps on improving and going to be extremely hard to beat this year.

Initial reaction is that this is still a very fair deal for both teams, but looking into it my big concern is Wall's health. I knew he missed time last year as well but though he still played more than 41 games and now he is pretty much done for year with 32 games. This makes it tougher to approve given these injuries to a guy like Wall who relies on his speed and athleticism more than the average player may have a greater long term impact. Still I trust both GMs and purely on talent return it's a good deal in my eyes- but there is certainly some risk with Wall being able to maintain his elite level upon returning.

Big boy trade right here. I have a feeling Houston will regret losing $18m a year more than they realize, but Wall and Mitchell will make that feel a little better.

Deal passes. :judge: It looks like non of the guys play tonight so we can get it updated tomorrow.

Houston needs to post roster moves to make room for the extra guys (Harrison can go to dleague but both active/inactive squads are full so 2 spots are required)

The Lakers team is mighty tough to beat and getting James Harden (who may well be top player in NBA) will put them so far ahead of everyone. I am new to this league and I think that this trade is not good for the league over all. The standings show that there are a few good teams, but the rest are garbage especially in Eastern Conference. I would not want owners to stop competing because of power of a few teams. This league needs parity to survive. Even so the trade is been approved, I would cast a vote of  :veto:
