Title: Warriors/Blazers Blockbuster
Post by: Vik on November 09, 2018, 10:18:58 AM
Warriors trade:

Kevon Looney 1.5m (2018)
Draymond Gren 18m (2019) - 4.9m paid this year to even salaries

Blazers trade:

Harrison Barnes 24.1m (2018) - 12m previously paid
Jonas Valanciunas 2.5m (2018)
2019 2nd rounder- :POR:  (via :ATL-NBA: Atlanta)

I really didn't plan to move Barnes but despite his solid production, aside from points, Green will get me same or better production as he is an all around stat suffer. I especially like the assists Green brings for a non PG. Adding Valanciunas since he is just sitting on inactive and while I kept wanting to promote him my depth as C is pretty strong, so I'll continue to role with Brook Lopez who is inconsistent but has had some big games. Looney just a low end depth guy to toss on inactive and keep my roster full since I am right at cap.

The Warriors could firm this deal.

I know I lose both Barnes and Valanciunas after this season is over unless I franchise tag one of them. However I have another trade in the works of a player that I have expiring after this season as well that isn’t KD. Therefore I will probably be franchise tagging KD after this season.

I know Draymond is a great player that puts up stats but I needed to diversify and start thinking about the future since I am sure KD is going to be pricey which this trade helps me save quite a bit of cap for next season.

The 2nd round pick also helps me fill out my DLeague spots.

Also, depending on how things go the rest the of this season and the off-season there is no absolute guarantee I can’t reaquire both players through free agency.

Nice and much needed cap savings next year for GS.

Probably could have gotten more if fully knew the rules before making the trade, but it’s still not terrible for this year and the cap space held next year

:iatp: Warriors clear some cap space and Blazers gain a quality player in Green. Valanciunas has been good but just can't seem to get consistent minutes.
