The reason we made this trade is Sanchez is in the final year of his contract and would have to compete with all the other clubs to resign him.  Garza is Arbitration eligible for 2yrs so adding that extra year was worth it, even though Matt had a down year we believe he will bounce back.  Depending on the offseason free agent signees, Matt is scheduled to be our fourth or fifth starter and we believe Matt is a very good option at that point.

I accept this deal and have done so because I think very highly of Anibel Sanchez. I personally do not like the way my rotation looks and see Sanchez as a definite upgrade over Garza. Sanchez had himself a very nice year and would've had a very good record if he wasn't pitching for a terrible team. Sanchez could potential be the number one starter for the team as the rotation is very weak.

Matt Garza is in his last year. Anibal Sanchez has two years left.

Any thoughts from the TC?

I would personally take Sanchez over Garza, but this trade is within reasonable margin.
