I think that the Sabres are making out huge here. That is a mighty fine return for what is sure to be a home-run pick in Dahlin. I get what Colorado is thinking, securing a generational talent on a cost-effective contact who will also be eligible for a franchise tag discount is valuable and there is the chance that picks #12 and #25 don't pan out. But hey, sometimes #1 picks don't pan out either. We'll see how it goes.

Buffalo confirms. I wasn't planning on dealing the 1st overall 2018 draft pick but after getting a number of offers that would help my Sabres in various ways, I weighed the options and the rest is history. AntMan has an enviable roster with 1st overall studs and other Top 3 picks. Sorry to everyone in Central Division for dropping Rasmus Dahlin off at Colorado's front door! :toast:

Big trade. I think the Vegas offer was competitive if not on par. Good trade for Dahlin. And Avs now own the 1st and 3rd overall picks. Impressive stuff Antman!

:iatp: That's a blockbuster trade. Great to see both teams taking risks to get more competitive. It's one of the things I love about this league. I can't wait to see Dahlin quarterbacking Buffalo's PP. He looks like a combination of Karlsson, Lidstrom and for the guys who watched the 80s Oilers and 80s/90s Pens, Paul Coffey.

:iatp: Ottawa was in on that. This is a good trade for both Buffalo and Colorado. Agree with The Beef in that Avs have a dominant roster with plenty of highly touted players selected with top draft picks. Buffalo improves. Time will tell who really wins this trade.

:iatp: Big trade boys! Saw Rasmus Dahlin play at the WJC, talented kid. If he doesn't dominate this yr, won't be soon after. We've only seen the tip of the berg with him. Buffalo gets a good package to build on.
