Title: T-Wolves/Knicks trade
Post by: Billy on August 02, 2018, 01:21:57 AM
T-Wolves trade:

SG Jimmy Butler $20.4m (2018-19)

Knicks trade:

2018 1st (#6 Overall)

I accept. Butler should be worth more but his contract lowers his value. I'd rather go after the FAs available and build through the draft than hold onto Butler

Confirmed. I don't have many good players and he's a proven star I plan to keep.

:iatp: Before you get too excited about an almost top-5 pick (or what might be when its all said and done) going for Butler with a 20MM deal and you have to re-sign. He was a top-20 G and a top-15 SG eligible player. The chance of a pick turning into that in their first year is not high.

:iatp: Butler skill set is probably worth the franchise tag so solid deal if NY is willing to pay up long term

Jimmy Buckets will be better than 6th overall pick for a lot of years I think. Worth the extra cap space (unless it ends up being like $40m a year - not sure who the top-5 SG eligible players are but Harden is one and he's up there for price!).
