Title: OTT - MTL Trade
Post by: Mordecai on July 09, 2017, 08:39:28 PM
Montreal has come to terms with the Ottawa Senators. 5 players change teams.

Dealt to :OTT:
RW Stefan Noesen, $1.5m (2016-2017-EL)   0.2m (2017-2019)
D Ben Lovejoy, $2.5m (2015-2018)
LW - Tim Bozon (2012: 3/64 - 0 Games)

Dealt to :MON-NHL:
Tyler Pitlick, $0.9m (2016-2018-EL)
Mark Streit, $4.7m (2015-2018)  He's currently an UFA (unsigned)
LW - Adam Erne (2013: 2/33 - 0 Games)
Round 3 - 2017  (from :CLS:)

We're eating cap here by taking Streit. We have room to absorb the nearly $5million cap hit on the final yr of his contract. We get Erne and a late pick as compensation which helps us build our team. Noesen and Lovejoy weren't in our plans so we wish them well in Ottawa. Sens to review.

:iatp: Sens agree to this trade with Montreal.
We're cleaning house and bringing in players we like. We're turning expensive deals into ones we can manage. In a cap system you have to pay to move large under productive contracts. Streit might sign somewhere but he's not worth the cap hit he's currently signed for. Goodluck with your new players Mordecai. Nice doing business with you. :toast:

:iatp: This could be a big win for Montreal if Streit signs a short term deal in the NHL.

:iatp: 6 players changing teams. Habs get good deal but likely one of many for Sens who completed a deal earlier in the day.
