Astros Trade
Rights to Daniel Flores C BOS
$2,177,300 in International funds
Yankees Trade
Craig Kimbrel $4.5m (2021)
Astros make the trade to acquire a top notch closer. I love Flores but he's obviously a ways away so trade makes sense for my team. Thanks to Yanks.

Yankees confirm.
I didn't intend to trade Kimbrel, but I ultimately still have 2 dominant closers assuming Britton is healthy. I love getting Flores even if he is a ways off and the remaining international money can be used to secure more high upside talent. When the rebuild has been as long as mine has, I'm not shooting to be mediocre, so while I'm much improved, I need to continue to acquire as much top level talent as possible.

:veto: VETO :veto:
A 16 year old Catcher for 4.5 years of Kimbrel on a very reasonable contract is ridiculous, not to mention he hasn't technically been signed yet.

Kimbrel is the 81st rated player in our league and Flores isn't just a 16 year old catcher, quote below. There's also $2m + of international money in the deal which by itself is more than what 8 other teams have to spend. All of that money puts the Yankees in great position to dominate the J2 period. I think it's fair to say the Yanks have the experience in this league to know how to execute their plan for their organization. So I hope our voting members take stock of that when they make their judgement. :judge:
“He’s probably the best July 2 player I’ve ever seen,” said a sixth scout. “I saw Gary Sanchez. I saw Miguel Sano. This guy at the same age does more than those guys did. And he raked for us in games. He was always squaring balls up in the gaps.”

i have always said i will not veto a trade unless there is colusion. i have said that if 2 owners agree then ill let the trade go. do i think this iss colusion no i dont but i personally would have made this trade if i was the yankees because i think u didnt get enough personally. but they both agreed so ill approve this trade

I agree it's a light return. The additional money will probably get 1-2 more highly rated J2 players but 2-3 16 year olds is very much an unknown. However, I don't believe in vetoing unless absolutely necessary.
What gives me more pause is trading "the rights to." After reading explanations I'm assuming the Astros will be paying for Castro THEN trading him along with J2 money to Yankees.
The only thing that makes me feel better is that I don't think any other team has enough J2 money to come in and get Castro out from under Astros/Yankees.
Grudgingly, :iatp:

He's also comped to Austin Hedges. 81st out of a possible 1200+ players is really good also elite at his position. 4+ years of an elite closer for a 16 year old catcher and cash is not good for the league long term. Traded like these are the exact kind that leaves a team mediocre as the Yankees claim to not want to be.
-
Approve the trade I don't think it's a great trade for the Yankees but he has been around long enough as stated before to know what he wants to do with the team long term
-
I approve the trade, but I also agree you should have waited until signing Castro to post the trade.

I'm with Jeremy. This is not good for the league. A 16 year old international prospect does not compare with a top 100 prospect and certainly not with a top MLB RP who is scoring more points than about half of people's teams.

Kimbrel is definitely worth a lot more than the return in this trade. There's no way I'd let him go if that's was offered to me. A 16 year old who may never make it, and the same with the international money, for who I see as the top closer in the game? On a good contract, with years to hold??? Speculation on how the kid could turn out verses a track record closer??? I'd never take that.
