FNHL :LV: Vegas can post their draft picks from now until July 7th. :judge:
-
:LV: selects from Avs with #1 pick
Thomas Greiss, $4.9m (2015-2018)
Turns out a brilliant trade by the penguins, Griess was on our radar all along with his affordable contract and coming off a strong season. We would have taken him from Pittsburgh who end up getting a return. Of course, we will now get a player from the Pens, but still...good trade.
-
:LV: selects #2 from Oilers
D Luca Sbisa, $1.5m (2014-2017) EXTENDED & EXPOSED
Jonathan threw us a bone and we thank him graciously.
This was the easiest pick that's why he goes #2.
-
:LV: selects #3 from the Blues (sorry rip)
G Mike Smith, $5.4m (2016-2019)
A no brainer after he was traded to Calgary and also the sweet Goalie contract.
-
:LV: selects #4 from Senators
D Joe Morrow, $1.5m (2015-2018)
Not every pick is one to be excited about. Ottawa did a good job stashing assets or having untouchable ones.
-
:LV: selects #5 from Dallas
RW Teemu Pulkkinen, $0.2m (2016-2018)
Not a glamour pick but I like this guys skill set and love his price tag. He may see more ice time with the NHL :LV:
-
:LV: selects #6 from the LA Kings
D Alex Goligoski, $5.5m (2014-2018)
Ugly contract but it expires after next season and it at least helps us reach our $44m target goal. I'm not looking for expensive guys, but there will be a few taken out of necessity.
-
:LV: selects #7 from Boston
D Mike Green, $5.7m (2015-2019)
Same note as #6 pick Goli...contract is :puke: but this is necessary evil.
-
:LV: selects #8 from Flyers
D Slater Koekkoek, $0.9m (2016-2018)
Green flag and all, I think this kid has upside and I'm willing to take a chance on the 23yr old former #10 overall pick.
-
:LV: selects #8 from Flyers
D Slater Koekkoek, $0.9m (2016-2018)
Green flag and all, I think this kid has upside and I'm willing to take a chance on the 23yr old former #10 overall pick.
Bastard!
-
:LV: selects #9 from Wild
C Markus Granlund, $1.5m (2015-2018)
He was added to protection in error and should still be exposed per original list (minny protected 8 forwards in the update).
-
i hope he tears a knee
-
:LV: selects #10 from Chicago
C Mark Letestu, $0.9m (2016-2018) 1.8m (2017-2020)
Not sure which contract is correct but welcome aboard Mark.
-
:LV: selects #11 from Panthers
LW Daniel Winnik, $0.2m (2016-2018)
Pickings were slim for such a good team. Kudos. In the end we took a cheap nobody. Depth is important in our philosophy. Hopefully this guy stays in the NHL another year or two.
-
:LV: selects #12 from N.Y. Rangers
RW Josh Jooris, $0.6m (2016-2018)
Another player we see with upside who may get more future ice time. Or so we hope.
-
:LV: selects #13 from Canadiens
RW Riley Sheahan, $1.5m (2015-2018)
Young guy like our recent picks who shows upside and should see the ice more as he gets older.
-
:LV: selects #14 from The Red Wings
LW Reid Boucher, $0.7m (2016-2018)
Do you see a pattern amongst the forwards? Thanks Detroit.
-
:LV: selects #15 from The Predators
C Colton Sceviour, $1.5m (2016-2019)
I like Colton. He is a good fit for us right now.
-
:LV: selects #16 from The Sabres
C Jordan Weal, $0.2m (2016-2018)
I believe he has found a stride, he certainly has the tools. Given his contract it's no risk.
-
:LV: selects #17 from The Sharks
C William Karlsson, $0.8m (2016-2018)
Again the Sharks exposure/protection list was invalid even more so than the Wild. However I narrowed it down to guys who should be exposed and based off of Brian's former list and lingo.
Your great dude! Love having you in FNHL Indiansnation :koolaid:
-
:LV: selects #18 from N.Y. Islanders
RW Michael Grabner, $0.5m (2016-2018)
Johnny b good...Johnny was good in exposing one of our more tastier selections. A 100+ point scorer in our league in his prime at 29 yrs old. We need a few proven vets up front.
-
:LV: selects #19 from The Capitals
C Michael Sgarbossa, $0.2m (2016-2018)
Yeah there were a few vets to choose from but they were nothing to sneeze at. Not to mention I think this guy has legit upside and could possibly blossom in 2-3 years. If I'm wrong, what's it really costing me?
-
:LV: selects #20 from Arizona
D Cody Franson, $5.5m (2015-2019)
Your welcome Yotes...my God this may be the worst contract in the league. Good thing I can afford it. This process is a numbers game and I had to select this player for multiple reasons, which only helps Arizona.
Cheers :toast:
-
Arizona is going to have to ship a box of Cuban cigars to VGK brass. :toth:
-
:LV: selects #21 from The Hurricanes
D Nate Prosser, $0.2m (2016-2018)
After the Cody Franson signing this sac of :puke: looks like :disco: to me by comparison. It's a numbers game.
Will Prosser hold on to an NHL job though?
-
:LV: selects #22 from The Winnipeg Jets
D Nikita Nesterov, $1.1m (2016-2018)
We like him, decent price, not a bad pick up with 3 picks left in the expansion draft. At least that's what Vegas thinks.
-
:LV: selects #23 from The Canucks
LW Rene Bourque, $2.3m (2016-2019)
Horrible contract, but in the end we needed to add both salary and a vet forward.
-
:LV: selects #24 from The Blue Jackets
RW John Mitchell, $0.2m (2016-2018)
Not a healthy pick up here, we know.
-
:LV: selects #25 from The Maple Leafs
D Jyrki Jokipakka, $1.1m (2016-2018)
Wouldn't you bleeping bleep know it, I ended up drafting this bleeper anyway
The draft is now complete.
Team's who were exempt (did not have a player drafted)
Tampa
Calgary
Pittsburgh
New Jersey
Anaheim

Great jobs Daddy! You created a franchise in 5hrs. Your pair of goalies will going to put you ahead of a number of teams right out of the gate. :toast:
-
I had a blast following Vegas draft picks in real time. Nuts but it was interesting watching Daddy's plan unfold.
-
Yes i followed along as well, i knew daddy did his homework. There had to be a bit of annoyance with the changing list over the last 2 weeks. Great job by the GMs getting the updated lists out. Ok now I'm bored let's get this dtaft going, sign some FAs, lets play hockey!!!!!

:DET-NHL: Detroit would like to welcome the Vegas franchise and congratulate Daddy on a great expansion draft. :toast:
-
My goal wasn't necessarily to draft the best team I could but I wanted to draft a flexible one. We have tons of cap space an can be active in FA not just this year but next year as we drafted tons of 2018 expiring guys.
Retaining our Goalies (although Smith is going on the block) was important, and we are gambling that Griess is a mainstay #1 the next 3-5 years. Also the young forwards will be evaluated and im sure out of the group we will find a few keepers.
As a startup franchise we didn't bog ourselves down with heavy contracts and aging vets, and we are under no dillusions of being title contenders, not yet, but there is a plan. The investment in FNHL is long term, we believe in the league and the current group of owners is phenomenal.
Thanks for the kudos, it's great to get feedback from your peers, positive feedback is always nice but even objective feedback is welcomed. This is a great league. Now....we should vote to move our draft up before September  and keep the momentum going. I like July 7th as an entry draft date :winner: :koolaid:  :winner:

Wow. That was quick and efficient.
Has the Vegas Expansion draft been completed or is it still open?

Up to Daddy to confirm he's all done. Then we can open Trading window earlier before the scheduled July 11th start date.

Amidst criticism we have reconsidered. Clearly the player with the most upside is not the one we originally chose.
