Title: Scoring Service - ProFSL / Fantrax
Post by: kenny on August 21, 2011, 07:28:52 PM
Is there anybody here 100% attached to using Fantrax to score our league?

If there are no objections and assuming the ProFSL scoring service is compatible with our league, I'd like to use ProFSL. Less passwords, less usernames for everybody. We're not making a final decision now, but this is a possibility.

I would greatly be in favor of using ProFsl's scoring, especially considering how Fantrax has treated several leagues this year.

Are you referring to the $59.95 fee for 24+ team leagues? They must have not mentioned it to existing leagues, because when I started playing around with creating a new league this year, there was definitely notice. That's why I had planned on doing separate NL and AL leagues, with the World Series being scored by hand.

Ya, I'm referring to the fee they are charging...several leagues on here had no idea this was the case when the season started, they only sprung it on us a few weeks ago.  Not good business to do it mid-stream IMO...good idea going the separate leagues (AL/NL), I will be good with whatever you decide as far as what scoring service to use  :toast:

An in-house scoring system here on ProFSL would be great. It will keep things streamlined. Love it. Fantrax is OK but not my preferred fantasy site anyway.

Four overwhelming "Yes's" for ProFSL and not an ounce of support for Fantrax. No pressure Colby, no pressure....

The pressure is on for NHL.

Are there any updates on this?  Is the ProFSL scoring system going to be ready anytime soon?

No it will not be. Fantrax will have to be the site of choice.

So we will have to pay for the league, unless you contract 6 teams (24 max on Fantrax w/o paying)

That is a shame..

No contraction and no fee. My original plans were to have separate NL and AL league on Fantrax.  The possibility of a ProFSL scoring system didn't come about until after the league was born. I think I  even stuck a few provisions in the league constitution for this regarding the World Series manual scoring. The actual Fantrax leagues will end 2 weeks early, with each of them determining a NL and AL champion. For the WS, lineups will be posted daily on this forum and I will tally up the points the old-fashion way (before there were computers!).

Any questions or concerns, please ask.

Hmm.  So that would mean there is absolutely no interleague play..  That is awfully unfortunate.  That is a pretty big aspect to think about now.

Personally, I don't think it's much of a change. There are 23 matchups in a season; in the NL, 15 of those will be against other NL teams, for AL it'll be 13. That leaves 6 or 8 matchups to be determined. Once you add in a 2nd matchup for teams within your division, that doesn't leave many "free" matchups.

Very good point.  Obviously I play way too much Roto. :P

I try to avoid the big boy commercial sites, but what about using Yahoo, CBS, or Rotowire? I know for a fact that Rotowire would charge, but at least with that you do get the use of their content. Personally haven't used Yahoo in probably five years but can't imagine it's changed much, I do use CBS in another league it's it's pretty simple and allows for inter league and all the regular scheduling you'd see in real life.

Fantrax is the best choice for this league, IMO.

You wanna pay the $60? lol

The two league idea works, but it sucks that there is no inter league play.

And I am 99% sure that other sites don't allow more than like 20 teams.

Like I said, Fantrax is the best option of this league.

if we are gonna split the league, I think that fantrax doesn't offer anything special

Not sure about other services, but Fantrax allows us to customize the schedule, which is helpful for configuring the playoffs.

I'm open to using other services if there's a benefit to doing so.

i'd assume baseball would work like the other sports, and for football I did custom schedules on both ESPN and Yahoo this season.

Can season lengths be modified?

pretty sure you pick the start/end.

Within reason that is. It won't let you start in like week 20 maybe or end in week 5 lol

I know a great baseball guy who said he'd join if it scored on ESPN.  I don't care either way though.
