Just noticed that Oakland had cut OF Melvin Upton, Jr receiving penalty on official roster and since taking over the team my first move was to win Melvin Upton, Jr in 2017. What is the ruling on this move and is it possible to resume the original contract of $.5M (2019)?

OF Melvin Upton, Jr. was on the :KC: during the 2016 season. His $6.0m contract expired in 2016 and he became a free agent. I have tried to research when he was released under contract by :OAK: but I have been unsuccessful so far. Nonetheless, there is no original contract of $0.5m (2019) and will remain on your team with the contract you issued him as a free agent.
Your $0.5m released under contract expires after the 2018 season--not 2019.
