Title: CANCEL - 1WK WARNING - Lightning Franchise Player Revoked
Post by: PsychoticPondGoons on February 27, 2017, 04:36:56 PM
Ben Bishop, $8.4m (2016-2021-FP-11.1 :TBL:)
Bishop, formerly of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning has been traded to the NHL's LA Kings thereby nullifying his FNHL Franchise Player discount of 2.7m.

Tampa has 1 week to resolve their cap situation.

This situation does create 1 available Franchise Player spot for the :TBL: to use.

Clock starts now! :judge:

This rule is only fair if we had the exact same trade deadline as the actual NHL.

I thought the FP was good for the season, both ways and would drop off at seasons end.

What's the 1 week about is this also the rule? This is a good thread to clarify for the entire league.

1wk is to right the ship and correct the cap difference.

Franchise Player opportunity gives teams a cap break if the player plays for the same FNHL as NHL team OR if your team drafted the player (making draft picks of future stars amazing valuable.

:TBL: Bolts best route might be

Buyout Brendan Smith, $2.4m (2016-2019)   at 66.66% for 0.9m savings
+
Claim Franchise Player discount on Alexander Wennberg, $2.1m (2016-2019) 0.5m
+
Cap saving from current trade with :SJ: 0.7m

Total cap saved 0.9+0.7+0.5 = 2.1 to start the ball rolling.

So the FNHL FP rule needs an edit to state voided if FNHL player traded by NHL team.

Cancel this deadline for TB.

Cancelled because the FP rule can be interpretted as voided if FNHL Player gets traded by FNHL team when it should read void if FNHL player traded by NHL team. :judge:
