O's get:
2B/SS/OF Ben Zobrist $18.1m (2017)

Rays get:
James Shields $11m (2018)
Derek Norris $5.5m (2018)
Brad Boxburger $2.8m (2018)

O's make this deal all about flexibility. To move three multi year deals on guys I wasn't viewing as long terms assets to get Zobrist on a one year deal gives me flexibility for this year and beyond. Rays to confirm, thanks the easy negotiation

Rays confirm. We fill three positions of need for what we are paying Zobrist. Shields is a bounceback candidate, only two years removed as the head of a World Series rotation. A healthy Boxberger can take back the closers role as Colome has been on the trade block this winter. They should cover the points lost in Zobrist bat. Thanks Mets.
