Title: Hurricanes - Blues TRADE

After reading the current top 10 teams the Blues decided to make something happen........

Canes get:
C/RW Leon Draisaitl, $3.0m (2014-2017-EL)
D Jarred Tinordi, $1.5m (2014-2017-EL)
LW Chris Higgins, $0.2m (2016-2018)

Blues get:
G Mike Smith, $5.4m (2016-2019)
C/LW Calle Jarnkrok, $0.4m (2015-2017)

I didn't want to part with Drais but it is clear that you need goalies to win this thing. Great job by Halo to get his guy because I wasn't offering him originally.

Carolina confirms:

We might have overpaid a little bit but I think it's a deal I had to make. Realistically it's going to be the 2018-19 season before Carolina is a player in this league and by then Smith will be 36 and in the last year of his contract. I tried to work out a similar deal with a couple of other teams but couldn't get it done.

I think this is a great trade for the blues. They're all in for this year. They'll be a tough out.

Blue win this trade with the acquisition of a starting goaltender and a talented young player. The price was really only Leon Draisaitl while Tinordi and Higgins are fringe depth players when playing in the NHL.
