I hate to say this but one of my players is dead. (derek boogard) am i going to be stuck with his contract or can be be released with no penalty

i whether the player is dead or a deadbeat, you can get rid of him via a buyout at 2/3 of the salary for the remainder of the contract length. you will save 500k per yr until 2013-2014 + free up a roster spot.

just post your buyout request on the transactions page and gilly + hockeyfreak6000 will process in due time.

Actually, I think death voids a contract. It's happened a couple of times, Nick Adenhart of Anaheim Angels and Chris Henry of the Bengals, both had their contracts voided. If there is a butout, it's up to management.

I'm willing to let that contract go away. Death is something no one can prepare for. Make a post in the transaaction section and we will take care of it for you.
