The rest of free agency won't change teams too much, so I did this now. I added hits into fantrax's projected stats, then averaged the totals between the projection and last years totals while tweeking for expected breakout rookies and this is what it popped out. I handicapped a few teams point totals in the goalie department. Teams like the Panthers, Blues, Kings, Red Wings, and Sabres have 3+ goalies projected to score a good chunk of points, but with only 2 available spots a night there is no way for them to reach the projected combined total of all of them. These totals are sort of a maximum as it takes into account the whole team. Deep teams won't score as much as projected, but they will be more insulated from injuries than top heavy teams.
1) :WAS-NHL: Washington Capitals - 4761.67

Nice work Corey. I did something similar but not nearly as in depth. It's interesting that you didn't use this for your rankings in the contest!

This is just for points really. Doesn't take into account that division winners are locked into at least a top 8 finish and the Capitals aren't allowed past the 2nd round of the playoffs. Plus the point totals are so close for so many teams that 1 bad week can move you from 4th to 10th, so then it is just a multi-sided die roll of who ends up where.

I dont know if I like having the numbers work in my favor like this. sets me up for disappointment. I do feel like I may have had one of the best free agencies to date for my team. Hoping for the best this year and if not the guys I got are moveable assets.

Yeah, your pick ups are moveable to a retirement home. Plus they already don't have teeth, so they will feel right at home.

yup. I would take Mike Ricci too if he still played. You gotta have mad respect for the guy though. Last player that comes to my mind that was in his 40's and still a highly effective player was Chris Chellios. I know there is lots of guys that play into their 40's but most had huge production drop offs.
