Pirates fans are starting to grumble and say things like, "I feel like we're the Phillies farm team." While the optics may look like that, since I've been selling to papps for the past few years, all deals are adding to the future of this squad. It's a tough seller's market in 2016, and I needed to move Arietta.
:PHI: Phillies receive
SP Arietta, Jake, $11.5m (2019) + $11m in 2016, $5m in 2017
C Ramos, Wilson, $2m (2017)
:PIT: Pirates receive
CI Olson, Matt, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Quinn, Roman, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Phillies agree. Tough to give up Olson but I get a big arm I really need. I'm going for a championship and I feel this deal puts me even closer.

Olson is a top 100 prospect, and Quinn is one of those "what if" players, but given Arietta's fantasy value and team friendly contract (with a massive cash exchange ) I think this deal is whacked.
I respect both GMs involved, and will approve, but it's a deal that leaves me smh....

I have to agree with Flash. I think the Pirates could have gotten more. The return isn't horrible though as Olson appears MLB ready and they need both quantity and quality.

I've been posting about Arietta for months and PM'ed GMs to see if there was interest. It's not a seller's market.
