This year you can place bets on all the weekly match-ups. This will be play money of course, but will be a lot of fun. We will see who has the most "Backyard bucks" at the end of the year. Hope to see all you guys take part.

I don't see how this is fair. We shouldn't be put at a disadvantage if we don't want to gamble. Gambling is an addiction that could cause negative effects in our personal life. I know that I would prefer if it was just a choice if we wanted to do this not be put at a disadvantage if we don't.

Ya but no one would care to do it if there was no advantage to it in the league. We want it to be part of the league. It won't be much of an advantage maybe 5% off our something, nothing major but something to work towards. It is also fake money so no harm no foul. Also I think Fantasy Hockey is an addiction that could negatively affect our personal lives but we all still do it. It is still a choice to participate in this as if you don't participate maybe everyone will loss all their Backyard Bucks and you will win. It is to add a new element to their league.

I don't agree with making people gamble or they are put at a disadvantage. I agree that fantasy hockey is an addiction and I know it has negatively my personal life and my relationship with my wife. I think you should wait and see how many people will actually participate first. I mean just looking it looks like you will have 6 people so far and its the middle of the summer when very few people check in.

I'm in Steeler country, You want to talk about a gamble, try telling someone the Penguins are #1 instead of the Pittsburgh Steelers. My wife, thank God, loves hockey as much as I do! :thumbsup:

I don't like in the rules that nobody can place bets on any game that their own team(s) are involved in. Why can't we bet that our team will win that week?? I can see saying we can't bet for our team to lose but we should be able to bet that we will win. This seems silly that we are being forced to gamble then being told that we can't bet on certain games

I have thought about it, but thought i would be more simple to say no betting at all on our own teams. There are plenty of other games to place bets on. This could change so we will see. :thumbsup:

This site and all the leagues I've joined, only 3 my wife knows of is a huge addiction, lolol.....Now yeah I agree with Jesse, this would be even more addiciting cause gambling is a hole other thing, but I do like it, and I personally don't think it would affect me worse than what im doing now, lol, so lets bet....problem is tho, I agree we should be able to bet on our team to win, I know there lots to bet on, but im gonna your ass's next year and want to fun bucks!!

Gambling is defined as to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance. I feel like this is how a gambling addiction starts you start playing with "fake" money and it only gets worse from here. I don't mind having this here for those who want to participate but I don't think we should have prizes if you win, unless the prize is like a small picture of a trophy on your team page or how we have the awards already, put something like sportsbook champ 2012

Sorry Jesse, but I disagree with your point here about this leading to an addiction to gambling. I do however see your point on prizes forcing people to play because not everyone would what to. :thumbsup:

Betting on Week 1 will open after October 1st. All GM's can place their bet on who will win the Cup. This will be closed on Oct 5th.
Please send your bets to me as a PM. You can only bet on one team and up to 100 BB.
