Title: Chicago Cubs Trade Block
Post by: peyton_46 on October 11, 2015, 11:24:55 PM
As a new owner to this league, I have inherited a team—the Chicago Cubs--that went 1-22 this past season. Given how far behind this club is, talent-wise, my obvious strategy moving forward this offseason will be to rebuild and focus on acquiring prospects, draft picks and international money.

As such, I want to be clear: EVERYTHING IS ON THE BLOCK, especially anyone on the 40-man roster. The only thing close to an “untouchable” might be SS J.P. Crawford (PHI) and, even then, he could be acquired if someone blows me away. I think I have a list of players who could really catapult a club(s) up the standings in 2016 and beyond. So who might be available? Here’s a partial list, featuring my best players, their 2015 point total, and year eligible for free agency. A special note that SP Aaron Nola (PHI) is on this list:

SP Francisco Liriano (986.6 pts, 2017 free agent)
OF Michael Brantley (981.0 pts, eligible for extension)
2B D.J. LeMahieu (887.9 pts, team control for two more years)
1B Justin Bour (581.6 pts, has not been placed on 40-man, all years of service time available)
RP Brad Boxberger (560.4 pts, team control for five more years)
OF Brandon Guyer (548.5 pts, eligible for extension)
SS Marwin Gonzalez (548.4 pts, team control for three more years)
RP Zach McAllister (382.9 pts, eligible for extension)
SP Chris Rusin (354.3 pts, has not been placed on 40-man, all years of service time available)
2B Ryan Flaherty (343.2 pts, has not been placed on 40-man, all years of service time available)
SP Aaron Nola (330.9 pts, has not been placed on 40-man, all years of service time available)
SP Archie Bradley (112.9 pts, team control for five more years)
SP Eddie Butler (100.9 pts, team control or five more years)

Also, note that I’m always willing to talk prospect-for-prospect or prospect-for-pick trades if anyone on my list interests you.

If you’re interested in starting the conversation, feel free to send interests and/or offers to peyton_46@yahoo.com. Again note that I’m only interested in prospects, picks and international money.

Thanks. I look forward to talking with you.
