Title: Discussion-Rule Book Revision Pt.1
Post by: BHows on August 30, 2015, 02:35:44 PM
I think this is ready for presentation:
Article I League Settings& Requirements (http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=231996.0)
Article II Schedules (http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=232226.0)
Article III Scoring/Pitching Limitations (http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=232351.0)
While reviewing please keep in mind that I viewed this as the intro to the league. I intentionally left it basic; as to be viewed thru the eyes of a prospective GM. I did however, provide hyperlinks to more detail where necessary. The current rule in posted in black, my proposals are posted in red
The above links are locked so please leave commentary in this thread. This will eventually be the finished product so commentary can be suggested changes, grammar, punctuation, whatever.
Thanks in advance for your time,
Rick

Looks good.  For the tiebreakers though, using head to head is much more flukish than overall points.  We have little control over off days, player effort, or scheduling that might affect head to head results.  IMO

This past season we went with a 162 game schedule where we played the teams in our division more than any other.  The head-to-head tiebreaker is actually set up for use in Fantrax this year, with fantasy points being the second tiebreaker.

First Rule -- Head to head record vs team(s) tied with

Second Rule -- Most fantasy points scored this season

This past season, the Giants and Cardinals tied for the last Wild Card spot.  The Giants won the head to head matchup with the Cardinals 5-2 and scored more fantasy points 181796.09 - 167695.71.

It's a given that there are variables which affect us all and there are things we have no control over.  During this past week, injuries to several key players affected my matchup with the Cubs and my team will be eliminated, but all of us have to deal with injuries and off-days, along with key performers who lay an egg and give us nothing--but one of the reasons we went to our present schedule over the random one generated by Fantrax, was to give more value to head-to-head matchups.
